I love to eat pork, too. Sausages, hot dogs, pork chops,
barbecue pig, and bacon. Yes. Perhaps the best meat
in the world, other than chicken. But there are some who
do not eat this particular food. I wonder what is the reason
for this...... Give me your take on this topic, please.
And also tell me if pork, is good for you, or not. Well,
a slight change of gears. That's OK, though. Yeah, come
on by. Let's talk about this. Is eating pork a sin ?
Some say that it is unclean, and is not made for the
human body. Hmmmm. Best answer wins. ~~~

I doubt it Cheryl. Besides pigs are
highly intelligent animals. And eating
cows, and chickens, are not that
much better anyway. Given the fact,
that they all eat the same crap.

Not sinful. Mark 7:19 says, "For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")"

Yes originally it was a sin. Pigs were considered unclean.. Like many other foods, but then this happened... God chose Peter, the apostle to the Jews, to engrave the fact that clean/unclean distinctions had changed. He sent Peter to lead a pagan Gentile, Cornelius, to Christ and salvation. Acts 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Acts 10:12 Wherein were all manner of four-footed beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. Acts 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. In vision God commanded Peter to eat unclean food. The fact that Peter refused to do so is irrelevant. God was not commanding Peter to sin. God was attempting to teach Peter that the food distinctions between clean and unclean has disappeared. God was not using something that was "untrue" in order to teach something that is "true" --that would be dishonest and confusing. Acts 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. Acts 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. If the unclean laws had still been in full force, then the vision from God would have compared Gentiles to clean food.

Some people do not eat pork due to religous reasons, since the pig is considered a dirty animal.
" The pig also because it is a splitter of the
hoof but there is no cud. It is unclean for
you. None of their flesh must you eat and carcass
you must not touch. "
Deuteronomy 14:8 ( Bible)
" Forbidden to you for (food) are: dead meat,
blood and the flesh of the swine and that
which hath been invoked the name other than
Allah. "
Qur'an 5:4
In practise not many Christians consider eating pork a sin, but in Islam, eating pork is a big no.
It is interesting to note that Muslims do not eat pork because they consider it dirty, but Hindus do not eat beef because the cow is sacred.

For Jews and Muslims, it is considered wrong. The reasoning being that pigs are dirty and scavengers. They can cause illness if not cooked properly. And, do not forget that these laws were made before people were aware of how to fix pork, and many still observe it.
I also know that many Christians follow this same law.

pigs are no more dirty than any animal including humans.
i wont make this a long answer as i dont particularly enjoy reading a book on yahoo answers but a) Jesus was a Jew and did not eat pig and b) Jews and Muslims dont eat pork because their genetic make up is close to humans and therefore they regard it as a form of cannibalism.
for example, do we not use pigs organs for human transplant?
also just take a look at your local butcher does he not look like a pig, you can tell how much a person eats pig because they start to look like them.

The Qur'an prohibits the eating of pork in the following verses:
Chapter Verse
2 173
5 3
6 145
16 115
"Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah." (C.5;V.3)
THE REASONS
1. Diseases caused by consumption of pork:
according to the following site, there are over 100 diseases
http://www.thepigsite.com/diseaseinfo/
2. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth:
The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, feaces and dirt. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.
Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.
3. . Pig is the most shameless animal
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate. In America, most people consume pork. Many times after dance parties, they have swapping of wives; i.e. many say "you sleep with my wife and I will sleep with your wife." If you eat pigs then you behave like pigs.

it is a sin in Islam...
this is due to the nature of the pig and health aspects...
however there is exceptance during darurat....you have to eat pork in order to survive or else you'll die....
"He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful" (Quran 2:173)

No eating Pork is not a sin... Muslims & Jews are told that it is as a way of further controlling them (religion is funny like that)!
Pigs consume the same amount of rubbish as the average cow, sheep or chicken. In fact, you are hundreds of times more likely to contract a virus from eating chicken than you are from pork.
Pork is full of protein, good fats and is absolutely yummy. as with all meat, its safe when eaten in moderation and when cooked properly.
Happy bacon munching.
Lol - why so many thumbs down - its the truth... your less likely to catch something eating pork than you are eating chicken (and dont get me started on the worms you contract from medium - rare beef).

Muslims are forbidden from eating pork, but they're allowed 2 in only one condition;that u either eat it 2 save ur life or u die
from hunger.the reason for that is that pigs r
animals that eat a lot of dirty things and trash,mostly...and so,imagine when u eat the meat of this animal that's full of diseases and viruses.and there are specific diseases a person gets from eating pork..i can't remember their names now, but,it is proved scientifically.
