It surprises me that so many would answer, "it's no big deal."
Do they know they are on the Religion & Spirituality site?

If you are a Christian and believe that the bible is God's word, let's look there for the answer.

Titus 1:16 tells us; They publicly declare they know God, but they disown him by their works, because they are detestable and disobedient and not approved for good work of any sort.

Concerning professed Christians, Paul wrote:
at 2 Timothy 4:3, 4.“There will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth.”

Religious leaders tickle people’s ears by condoning practices that appeal to wrong desires, such as sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, and drunkenness. The Bible clearly states that those who approve of such things and those who practice them “will not inherit God’s kingdom.”—1 Corinthians 6:9, 10; Romans 1:24-32.

God made that heartfelt appeal to the Israelites because they were being misled by religious lies.

Hebrews 10:26 says "For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left".

Proverbs 18:1 warns that "One isolating himself will seek his own selfish longing; against all practical wisdom he will break forth."

2 Peter 3:16 says "the untaught and unsteady are twisting, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction".

Does God approve of fornication? NO

Ephesians 5:5 "For you know theis, recognizing it for yourselves, that no fornicator or unclean person or greedy person...has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and of God.

1 Corinthians 6:18 "Flee from fornication. Every other sin that a man may commit is outside his body, but he that practices fornication is sinning against his own body."

Colossians 3:5,6 "Deaden, therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, unclean sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. (6) On account of those things the wrath of God is coming."
Notice fornication was the first one mentioned.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-6 "For this is what God wills, the sanctifying of you, that you abstain from fornication (4) that each one of you should know how to get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor (5) not in covetous sexual appetite such as also those nation have which do not know God."

1 Corinthian 5:9-11 "In my letter I wrote you to quit mixing in company with fornicators, (10) not meaning entirely with fornicators of this world or the greedy persons and extortioners or idolaters. Otherwise you would actually have to get out of the world. (11) But now I am writing you to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator..."

It makes it clear that the "world" who does not want to follow Christ, that fornication is rampant.

God, out of love, gave us a wonderful sexual appetite to share with our husband or wife. He could have made us numb but he didn't. He demands that we respect His commands in this area.

Fornicators will not inherit Gods Kingdom.

We are not talking about platonic roommates, sharing rent.
We are discussing "shacking up" or "living in sin"
I don't understand the "friends with benefits". What "friend" would steal your spirituality and relationship with Christ.

Selnyk, you comprehend from reading the Torah that no guy (or lady) is able to retaining the guidelines completely; the only objective of the guidelines is to coach humankind that that's sinful and that some thing must be completed to completely get rid of that sin. God explains interior the Torah that the blood of animals in basic terms "covers" a Jew's sins; it does not completely get rid of them. followers of Yeshua have faith He replaced into the only guy or woman who saved all of God's rules completely. this is between the standards for the Messiah: taht He undergo our previous, recent and destiny sins, so we could be reconciled back to God. No known man or woman is able to residing a sinless existence. If human beings have been, there does no longer have been want for ALL of Israel to take part interior the Day of Attonement, might there? On that Day, even the severe Priest presented a sacrifice for himself, spotting that he replaced right into a sinner. Christians and Messianic Jews have faith that human sinlessness will in basic terms happen in Heaven and interior the submit-Millenial Kingdom. What might take place if we've been sinless? to totally comprehend the enormity of this subject, take into consideration Isaiah 40-one, extremely verse 23. while you're no longer unfavourable to it, then study John 10:31-39. If Jesus calls Himself the Son of God, and John a million:12 tells us believers will "grow to be infants of God," what does that permit you comprehend?

Yes, of course it is acceptable to live together, but "living in sin" is a rather old fashioned term, most people prefer to call it a defacto relationship.

I know what God's word says about living together when one is not married. But kids today marry and they don't even know each other. Divorce is at a very high rate. No one marry with entention of staying married. In some ways I think people should live together for awhile before they marry. I know I am wrong in saying that too.

Not to a lot of people! Before I came back to being a Christian I lived with my bf (now husband) for a while and my parents were...... displeased. Quite displeased! And honestly, if I had it to do over again, I would not have shacked up with him. I love him to death, and I'm sure he loves me too, but sometimes I wonder which decisions I made for myself, and which because we were already together and I wasn't so independent, and which were because we were already having sex and it didn't seem easy to change anything. I also wonder sometimes if we got married just because he knew I wanted it, or because he actually wanted it too. I was going with the thought "I love him, he loves me, and I know we're going to get married..." but I truly wish I had kept myself independent of him until we got married.

May I tell you...... THAT NO ONE.... GETS AWAYS.... WITH ANYTHING......!

(1Timothy 5:24) Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment. And some they also follow after.

AND.....

(Galatians 6:7-8) Do not be deceived, =God is not mocked. For whatever = a man [woman] sows, = that he [she] also = will reap.

(Gal 6:8) For he [she] sowing to his [her] flesh = will reap corruption from the flesh. = But he [she] sowing to the Spirit = will reap life everlasting = from the Spirit.

AND LAST but Not LEAST.....

(1Corinthians 6:18) Flee fornication. = Every sin that a man [woman] doeth is without the body; = but he [she] that committeth fornication = sinneth against his [her] own body.

AND.......LAST but Not LEAST.....

(Numbers 32:23b) .......you have sinned against the LORD: = and be sure = your sin will find you out.

Thanks for Asking ! RR

but without religion there is no sin. lets scrap all this hocus pocus mumbo jumbo and get on with living. then there will be no sin, simply choices which are either selfish or altruistic (right word? maybe not, but i;m sure you get what i'm on about).

Depends all on your individual views of spirituality. Most religions frown on "living in sin".
