What would be the best and fastest way to get a passport since I am overseas and it is more complicated. I want to come home soon but can't travel until I have one. Any suggestions.

I had military orders sending me to Germany so that and my military id got me over here now they have passed a law stating that as of January 1, 2008 you must have a passport to travel any where out of Germany. I know it sounds dumb to be in a foreign country with no passport but never really planned on being stationed overseas.

The ONLY way to get a passport when you are not in your own country is to go to the nearest embassy or consulate of your country. They can usually make you a passport within a few days. If you are American, go to the nearest American embassy.

IIRC there is a way to get a passport or at least a valid travel document (in lieu of passport) through the US Armed Forces. I read a reply along those lines a few months back, but don't even know whether this was here or on another forum. The reply involved lots of Army talk that I didn't really understand.
The other option is the embassy in Berlin or the next consulate (mission) near you. Note that this won't be fast, bc AFAIK they need to send all the paperwork back to the states which takes time. You can pay some expedition fees, but I don't know how much this is going to help you.

Actually it may be quicker to get a passport overseas--if you have a certified birth certificate and some form of photo ID. U.S. embassies issue them and I would imagine that consulates do to as it is a consular service. It is not all that uncommon. Children of U.S. citizens born overseas for example, people whose passports expire when living overseas, people who lose their passports etc all have to get a passport outside of the U.S. I have had passports issued by the embassies in Moscow, Russia and in La paz, Bolivia.

The question is: "why you are overseas, and you don't have a passport?" If the answer is: "You lost your passport," therefore, it's easier to get a new one from any immigration office closer to your place. Good luck!

Pretty sure you have to go through you counries Embassy. If that is the case I really don't think there is anything speedy about getting your passport. Good Luck.

Telephone the nearest embassy of your home country. Then carefully follow all their instructions!

You'll need to find an expediting service [many available online] that will ship to your location. Expect to pay about $60.00 - $100.00 for the service.
