Should I take the eggs out of the frig and let them come to room temperature?

this method works perfectly.

Put the eggs out of the fridge in a pan of cold water. There has to be enough water to cover the eggs.

Cover the pan and bring the water to a boil.
As soon as the water starts to boil time exactly 3 minutes.
Remove eggs and serve immediately because they continue to cook in the shell.
You could run them under cold water to stop cooking but then they get cold.
Practise. You may in fact like them done a little more or less but 3 minutes is perfect- white cooked, yolk runny.

The Easy Way
The way our Grandma made them…also referred to as Poached Eggs.
Use a non-stick medium-size skillet and lightly rub a little cooking oil around the bottom and sides of the skillet with a paper towel. Fill the skillet 1/3 full of water and place the skillet on medium heat.
As the water begins to get hot, carefully crack open eggs and gently open the shell over the skillet and let the egg gently enter the water. Repeat this step with each egg, but no more than 3 eggs in the skillet at a time.
Cover eggs briefly and cook for a minute or two. Remove the lid from the skillet and with a plastic spatula, push the hot water over the top of any egg that does not have a thin white covering over the yolk.
Remove eggs from the skillet carefully using the plastic spatula and place gently on paper towels to drain excess water.
Pick up the paper towel with the eggs gently and carefully drop the eggs into a bowl.
Using two butter knives, criss-cross and cut the eggs up. Add a little salt and pepper and serve with toast.

The Hard Way
Called the hard way because it is hard to get the eggs cooked to each persons perfection! Unlike the easy way, you only know exactly what you’re getting once you’ve opened the eggs.

Add 2-3 eggs in a saucepan and add enough water to completely cover the eggs. Bring the water to rapid bowl, then turn the heat off and carefully move the saucepan from the heat. Cover the eggs and allow them to sit 1-3 minutes undisturbed. Cool the eggs in a bowl of cold water to prevent further cooking. With a spoon break the eggs in half and scoop the insides out into a bowl. Season lightly with salt and pepper and add a little tad of butter if you wish.

Place eggs in pan, cover with cold water. Bring to boil, let boil 3 minutes for soft egg ,4 minutes for hard boiled egg. You do not need to take them out to warm up.

No get yourself one of those eggs you drop in the pan with them, that determines how cooked they are by changing colour. Never have an over boiled moment again.
