Repent for the lost time. Pray to Jesus. And just go to church. Dont make the mistake of going only when your in need. Go to praise him in the good times and the bad. You will be so blessed and maybe you will even touch someone elses life in the process. Try it, it will change your life.

Just go in and sit down. You are there for one reason and one reason only and that is to experience the Lord, worship Him and pray to Him. You are not there to meet and greet people, but hopefully they will recognize that you are new and make you feel at home with the Lord. Sing when they sing, sit when they sit and listen when they listen. Go early and someone will probably greet you and even sit with you and show you the ropes.
Before you go to church, try reading the Word of God in the Holy Bible. If the church is not preaching the Bible and you don't see Bibles in the church, then try another church next week. Find a Bible believing church that preaches the Word of God. Get into a Bible Study group at church because this will help you more than listening to the pastor preach.

1st of all you should look on the net for a chruch close to you. See what or how they believe & see how involved w/the community they are. Are you involved or this this another thing you are afraid of? When you find a church go visit sit in the back if you want but me I would go early & get to know some of the members, they will give you a real feel about the church. I am in Austin & have been looking for a church, I tried a few churches & have finally found 1 that I enjoy. My point is you will know when you find it. You do still have your Bible right? Maybe it would be a good thing to start praying about it & read in the morning & ask God to forgive you for not going & set your path straight before its too late. He hes been wanting you to come back to Him it sounds like to me & who knows if you aren't married maybe He will be giving you some 1 in your future to be your husband! If you are married then ask or see what your husband wants to do. He should be the leader but if or when it goes against what God wants then you have to dis obey him, sorry to say. Bless you on your trek to know Him better.

I'm not sure why you are scared. I think this happens to many people for various reasons though, and I experienced something similar. I felt I neglected God and what I really knew to be truth. I was blessed with enough humility to admit I was wrong. I must have prayed or someone had prayed for me for this gift to come to me which was I think of as something like a re-conversion. I finally went back to confession and unloaded everything I was in denial about. I confessed my sins which had been on my heart for 7-8 years. Boy that felt good. Then I felt great about church. It all went away.
I think you have a good idea. You could also meet with your pastor if you want to talk about anything in particular that is bothering you. Pray for the courage to go back. God is with you every time you pray. You might look for some good church functions you think you would like. It is good to feel connected. That way you will see that nobody is going to bite. I think you will find a lot of good people you like.

That is how I found my current home church, I just walked in and sat down. Don't stop at the first one, though. Visit a few to see which one you might feel most comfortable in. The church is made up of the people in it, so they are different. I have visited several churches of the same denomination and different ones, some I will never step foot in again and others I would recommend to others, but they just weren't right for me. Good luck and God bless!

If you want to go, then you just go. You can ease into it by sitting in a church in between services when it's empty, or you can just jump right in and attend a mass. You just go in and sit. Take a look at the miselets and hymn books. Breathe in the candles, listen to the music, feel the community unity.

First, God does not reside in a church. He is everywhere and you can talk to him where you are. He can help you with the junk in your life whenever you turn to him.
Second, the Bible is his letter to you. It is confusing at times, so start with the Gospel of John and just read it. Jesus was the most brilliant, fascinating. loving, just man who ever lived and He can speak to you through those pages.
Lastly, find a church that is not condemning but loving. I would suggest looking in your phone book for a Vineyard church. Call the churches and interview them (I did this before I chose one to attend).

Jennifer,
I would be glad to talk with you via email if you need to just talk. I am a Christian and I am available most days, when I am home. I am disabled and I am glad to just "chat" about any topic that you would like to discuss. We can use this site so that you and I are both unknown to one another if you choose. I chose a Church that followed ONLY Biblical Scriptural Authority. There are no man-made creeds followed where I attend at all. I am comfortable with their services and the preaching always has Biblical References to follow in each sermon that is preached. Have a great day and a wonderful week. I do care about YOU!
Thanks,
Eds

Yeah....do exactly what you suggested.
Just walk in(be a little early...maybe 10 minutes before the service starts) and sit in the back row if you're not that comfortable walking in front of everyone.
Also, if you want to be closer to God, you don't have to go to church...you can pray right now and ask for strength and comfort.
