I don't know. I don't think it can ever be called just but sometimes it is necessary. A necessary evil. However, I don't really think that the war we're in right now is necessary, but I'm just talking about war in general.

war happens when peace fails-trying to justify failure is not something i care to do-maybe someday it will no longer be necessary--just my thoughts-smile and enjoy the day

It is never just. But, it is necessary sometimes. Stopping Hitler was a necessity but it does not "justifies" war. Just because something is necessary, does not make it just. But it is accepted that sometimes things have to be done, whether it is just or not.
If someone points a gun in my face, and i shoot him dead before he shoots me. It was necessary to protect myself, but it is not just to have killed him.
In terms of the war now, i don't think people are wondering if it was just. I think necessity was the bigger question.

I have been educated by all those you said war is wrong, thank you..
Now lets right all the wrongs:
We need to give the US back to England
(the colonies rightfully belonged to England)
We need to get all the slaves back on Plantations
(I don't remember any slave asking for a war)
We need to turn Europe and Africa over to the Germans(remember how the US attacked Germany when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor?)

Sure. It always sucks, but it is sometimes just.

Weapons are the tools of violence;
all decent men detest them.

Weapons are the tools of fear;
a decent man will avoid them
except in the direst necessity
and, if compelled, will use them
only with the utmost restraint.
Peace is his highest value.
If the peace has been shattered,
how can he be content?
His enemies are not demons,
but human beings like himself.
He doesn't wish them personal harm.
Nor does he rejoice in victory.
How could he rejoice in victory
and delight in the slaughter of men?

He enters a battle gravely,
with sorrow and with great compassion,
as if he were attending a funeral.

It can be depending on the circumstances. And for all of you who think the Iraq war is unjustified, go tell that to the families of the thousands and thousands of people who disappeared, were killed or who were tortured in jails during Saddam's reign.....

We all hate war. There is no good thing about war. Unfortunately there are those who will only stop attacking you when they are dead. This attitude in some makes war necessary.

War should always be the very last resort for serving justice. When you talk of a Hitler bent on world domination, war is the only form of justice that will put an end to it.

I can conceive of a just war.

Most wars in history? probably not.

I'm sure it's been done more for the wrong reasons than for the right ones. That is, if it's ever been done for the right reasons.

NO. war is never just. there is never a necessary evil. there is only evil and hatred. war is both of these.

even when the "enemy" proclaims you to be their mortal enemy and states that they will not rest until every one of "you" are killed, there is no just cause for slaughter. the only life you ever have the right to take is your own, and even thats a big maybe.

For the corporatocracy it's just -- justified for their interests -- as long as you and I are willing slaves to consumerism and willing to be their cannon fodder. Every war can be preached as spreading the ideas of whatever will promote the interests of the power elites. This agenda is always shrouded in patriotic ideals for the uninformed and gullible. Every war mankind has fought is fought for the power elites' interests who convince us that we're in danger -- yes, danger that unbridled greed has created.
