James 1:25-27

25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.
26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

If thats what religion is in the Christian sense, Where did people get their view of religion from?

Religion is believing in God not getting caught up in what the important "leaders" say we should do.
Anything not in the Bible (washing your hands twelve times or being cured of aids by having sex with a virgin) is probably not what God considers good pure religion.

Thats why you need to be a Bible christian, not a "my pastor said this..." christian.

And God said... The words following that should be the ones we pay attention to.

Jess - feel free to email

P.s.
Corrupt people want to control other people, these corrupt people take whatever they can use and control people with it, the Bible is one of those things. I am not saying every pastor is corrupt, but that those in higher positions of power BEHIND the scenes are corrupt.

The Bible documents God's dealings with humanity. It starts off with creation, then the autumn and the promise of a Redeemer. Then we've God's choosing of a human beings to symbolize Him to the worldwide (the youngsters of Abraham) and a promise that God will deliver a Redeemer via Abraham's line. lots of something of the previous testomony is a checklist of God's dealings together with his chosen human beings. interior the recent testomony the promised Redeemer seems interior the guy of Jesus, the Christ who's totally guy, yet who then is going directly to do issues that for the duration of basic terms God can do (for an occasion, study Mark 2 verses a million-12). Jesus lives an entire life of perfect obedience to the previous testomony regulation, pleasing it. Jesus dies on the circulate to pay the fee for the broken regulation, and rises from the lifeless on the third day, that first Easter Sunday, proving that God the father often happening Jesus' dying and on an identical time defeating sin and dying for all who will come to God via Jesus. something of the recent testomony documents the growth of the early church (Acts of the Apostles), and letters that the followers of Jesus wrote to describe and prepare what Jesus' existence, dying and resurrection ability for people who believe him. The Bible, taken as an entire, has this great topic of redemption working via it. attempt to study the Bible and seem for this topic and you will locate it even interior the "uninteresting" genealogies. The Bible teaches approximately Jesus, consequently the Bible teaches Christianity.

The bible was written by men.
It's an expression of religion, how would you expect it to contradict it's religion unless it's twisted on itself ?
Those that reject religion, have no need for an expression of religion.
Those that embrace religion might not even notice the inconsistencies.

Weak people always seek to follow, it's the sheep mentality. Religion is a smart way to give those weak a goal and lead them by playing a religious leader.

Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship between you and God

Good question.

Spiritual Christians doesnt have christmas. Everday they praise God and Jesus Christ, for His Holy Birth in this sinful world and for His death on the Cross for sinners.

Materialists - They dont know what is the spiritaul meaning of the word of God. They dont think of "what God wants from us?". So they celebrate christmas (which is not in the Bible) with the man-made things which doesn't please God.

People are religious even if they don't believe in Jesus Christ the way we do.

For example:

People "religiously" watch their favorite tv show.....
or people "religiously" gotta watch the football game......

As far as linking this to faith......

People have developed the idea that "religiously" doing something is enough to please God....which of course....it's not.

God is only pleased with the finished work of Christ at the cross.
