My Pastor recently decided to put a cross at the Altar at my church. He made a statement that because our church services are televised both nationally and across the globe that in the past they have been advised not to have a cross on display as not to offend people. He stated that he made the decision to put the cross up because it is one of the largest symbols of Christianity and that we shouldn't "sensor" ourselves. This made me think of all the different church services I watch on TV and I see plenty of Globes, Bibles, and Praying Hands, but very few, if any Crosses. Now, I suppose I could sort of see how seeing Jesus actually hanging from a cross could be offensive to some, but just a cross in itself? How is that more offensive than a symbol of the Bible, or Praying hands? What are your views?

I don't know why it would offend people. But I am glad to hear he took a stand, instead of them telling him what to do.

i am personally offended by the cross because before the Christian church took it on as their symbol, it was the symbol for roman justice. all their basicilas (justice houses which got turned in to churches later) were made in the form of crosses and the cross was their primary instrument of "justice" by way of Crucifixion. the cross to me no more represents Jesus than it represents torture and obedience to the empire of Rome. the church would be far better off by abolishing such an archaic and frankly horrifying symbol. He didnt live so we could remember his death, He lived so we could remember his LIFE.

From Genesis to Revelation, it is all about Jesus Christ, the Cross and the blood that Jesus shed for you and me.

Jesus said they hated Him and they would hate us. The Cross is where we all must go to change. Billy Graham's main sermon was the Cross of Christ, because it is all about the cross and Jesus' shed blood.

I find no offence with the cross. altho i have met some that do. i am not sure why tho because if they are christian then they know the cross played a role in our salvation. i mean it's not like he's still hanging there. He defeated that cross and sin. if it weren't for the cross i'd hate to think of where we would be...infact i know where we would be...

I figure if we keep removing those things from our services that MAY offend others, then eventually after we have watered down the faith enough, you and I and millions of others, won't be able to recognize Christianity at all.

Christianity is based on Jesus at the cross & the blood he shed there.

That's just it...why should we Christians not be ourselves? Why should we allow the world to dictate to us what we do, how we should do things?
Who will we obey?
No one seems to care whether or not a Christian is offended, they just expect us to swallow whole whatever is thrown our way.
Who do we fear, God or man?

The day we are ashamed of the cross-- is the day we don't deserve what it represents.

How would you feel if they decided to hang the gun or the symbol of what your son was killed with?

How does God feel when he sees what his son was killed on.
Why should we stick it in his face?
