No, no they don't. How about actually reading the book or seeing the movie before you start spouting off your misinformed opinion? If you knew anything about the series you'd know that:

1. "God" doesn't die until the third book (AKA Not the Golden Compass)
2. The thing they kill isn't actually a God at all, just a big fake.

Watching the movie wouldnt help bc the auther has reduced to mild of the whole "god killing thing". The book, on other had is more open about it. The auther him self said so. The movie is just a hook to get people to read the book. I would too say not to watch this movie, but that is just my viewing. If anyone want to watch, then so be it.

Actually i think that the books (therefore the fillms if you want) carries the message of growing up and maturity right the way through the series, culminating with the destruction of the False God.

The kids (Lyra and Roger) Each have their deamons and as part of maturity the deamons eventually lose the ability to shape-change, perhaps signifying the individual's true acceptance of himself and understanding that the only way through life is to become strong in one aspect of your personality.

I believe it has less to do with killing Gods then it does Growing up.

Which is why it's a film with a kid as the main character.

Why should Christians just go along with whatever stuff that is put out? Why is it, if we stand on our beliefs, and refuse to surrender them like the atheistic culture wants, they say we are stupid?
We are to be different from the world, and our choices are based on what we know to be true from the Bible. If others have warned about something, consider there may be a reason.
Christians can be offended too.

Hmm. Nice.

Its a movie. Entertainment. There's more to it than its dislike of religion.

I wish people would just chill out about it.

Its all a hypothetical world anyway. Things are different. The Magisterium in the movie, if i recall correctly, is supposed to be the Catholic Church gone waaay wrong in a parallel universe. Its not true. The movie's anti-tyrannical religion more than anything.

come on every one being a little harsh on the kid..
I am sure there is no diversity allowed in the home ..I am sure that his or her thoughts and opinions are forced children only know what is taught to them..they only believe what they are told to..some people do not tell their children that everyone has a different belief and the right to that belief ..they teach them that only their belief's are right and everyone Else's are evil and ungodly and they will burn in hell for those belief's.to me It is just a movie and a good movie that pushes the envelope and makes you have to think ..but that does not mean I am not strong enough in my own belief system that one movie is going to make me abandon those beliefs..
this child honestly feels that she is saving souls and doing a great work for God by sending this message into our homes...she is just standing up for the beliefs that have been instilled in her ...

So (if I try to interpret the spelling and the missed words etc), what you seem to be saying is that an atheist's view of the world in a children's story is so terribly threatening and powerful that you will be damaged by seeing this film. Hmm. I never realised how flimsy your faith must be.

Oh my, well, I suppose that since they're making a movie based off an atheistic series, and since YOU guys can make such movies like "The Passion of the Christ" WE atheists can't make a movie with atheistic tones to it!! Oh wow...I have seen the errors. It's 'cause of you guys who like to make a bunch of noise over a MOVIE that has made number one!!!
