I think somebody sent me a link to this website, and perhaps I put in my email. Since then, I've received a steady stream of spam. I have clicked the link at the bottom "If you would prefer to not receive future marketing messages from us, click here to unsubscribe" and the spam keeps coming. It comes from a different domain every time - the true hallmark are pure, indisputable spam.

Has anybody else had this experience?
How do you feel about commercial spammers co-opting an important green issue for their personal profit?

Well, well, not only do I get spammed by MyCarbonClick, I get spammed by Jello, who doesn't answer the question, doesn't tell me how *he* feels about the issue of green-spam, he just used my question as a soapbox to further spam me with his opinions about how global warming is a hoax and the science is all wrong. Puh-lease!

Oooh, I love the term "scabrous scumbag" - just rolls off the tongue so nicely!

I've long suspected that responding to those emails using the "if you would prefer not.." links only tells them you're alive and causes them to redouble their efforts. Spam outbreaks come and go (for instance, I've noticed that the spammers have gone back to 'person-to-person' spam in an effort to get around mass-mail detector/screeners), but in general, it seems that spam is (like mosquitos and poison ivy) an unavoidable, pestiferous side effect of a pleasurable activity. Where somebody can make a dollar by being a scumbag, there will always be takers - there has never been a shortage of proudly scabrous scumbags in the human population; possibly the strongest argument there could be against "intelligent design"...

It happens all the time. Look how many people and corporations get gvmt grants under the guise of "global warming".

It's one reason why the science is so bad.

i get at least 3 a day and it is a real bother because there is no point to them. clicking on it would not do anything to stop so called man-made global warming and only furthers it because of the electricity they use to waste our time.
