Obviously your Mum is afraid that something out 'there' will encourage you to leave home and she will lose the best house keeper she ever knew...! ;-)

Your Mum has a larger world view and is trying to protect you. Ask her what it is she is afraid of, because this is ultimately what it is about - her fear.

Then try to discuss the fears rationally and show her that you are grown up enough to do that, then she may realise that you are growing up FAST.

This is a common problem, some people are still tied to their parent's apron stings in their fifties and sixties! So best learn to cut those ties now, but build a grown up relationship with your Mum.

Try to remember, that regardless of how old a person is, they are still the 'baby' of their parent as long as the parent lives.

it is all about trust.
go back memory lane and try to remember if there was an incident or two that you were not able to keep a promise, especially on a trip with friends, cousins or even kins, even if you went on a clear day. if none, try going out during the day with friends your mum knows personally, and come home along with a group of respectable individuals for your parents to meet.
i believe this would give a little "ice-breaker" for your parents to see that you are getting older and you're not that baby that they used to have.
yes, i understand they are "over-protective"... but don't be mad at them. it is just really hard for a parent to let his/her kid to go out at night, knowing that the crime rate and other abusive kids would be there waiting for some right time to do something nobody would like.
i'm a parent too of a teen, your age. just try it out... you have nothing to lose.

You don't sound very old so I am glad your parents are being very protective of you. There are too many kids with too much freedom and we see them on missing posters every day. We see search parties on TV as they look for bodies in woods and in water. Thank your parents for loving you enough to make wise decisions.

l know how you feel my parents never let me out go out to see a movie either. in fact they hardly ever let me out anywhere after dark. l had to sneak out to go to rock concerts. but finally when l was old enough to move out on my own l could do as l want, stay out as late as l want, but one thing l realized is movies really suck you just sit there and watch some imaginary life on a screen, very boring and unrealistic. l discovered my own life is more interesting, to bad it took so many years to realize this. l probably would have learned a lot sooner if my parents would have butt out of my life and let me make my own choices.

Listen to your parents and not act like a baby. They will see you acting like this and it will make them more mad and they won't let you do things in the future either...

trust me I'm a mom, and when my kids act up, i punish them. They keep screaming and crying I keep punishing...

Stop whining and they will give you more of what you want.

Please believe me your parents really love and care about you for this, they are not doing it to be mean they are doing it because they care about you, there are so many sick people out in this world, and that is what they think. How old are you?
