for the past 3 years i have found it difficult to feel.
for example, there was a explosion that couldve taken my life, i got out in time and felt the blast behind me but durring the whole incodent, i felt nothing emtionally and i never felt any kind of adrenalin rush from it. my heart beat just went on like nothing happend. I cant even feel love, i know i care for my girlfriend, i enjoy being with her and want to stay with her. but i dont feel love.
yet in my dreams, i feel everything like it were real. i wake up and feel the adrenalin rush fading away.
the only thing that i seem to feel is anger and hatred. its not a great anger or hatred, but just of stupid things in life and people who are just plain idiots. so who should i see?

I'm not a psychiatrist but it really sounds like PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). Even if you don't feel anything at the time of the incident, this could have been your coping mechanism at the time. Sometimes people feel that they don't have any after-effects from an incident like yours, it can effect your life in ways that you cannot imagine (such as not feeling emotions or scary dreams).

There is nothing wrong with seeing a psychiatrist. They are professionals and will go though a harmless intake process to be able to see if they would be able to help you. Plus most good psychiatrists usually order bloodwork in the Intake stage to see if there is something physically wrong that would explain your symptoms.

If there is a mental diagnosis found, the psychiatrist will make recommendations for a treatment plan specifically for you (whether it be medication, medication and therapy, therapy only, etc.). Speaking with a therapist may help you deal with your anger, managing your feelings anf helping your relationship with your girlfriend.

Good luck! ~Rennie

You may need to talk to my very good friend Mary Jane.

You certainly have some sort of PTSD, a shrink could/might help, but this could be something you can fix on your own. Either way, just to give you a heads up, anti-depressants will not do anything except make you crazy I can guarantee that 100%. Weed will help just about as much as drugs from your doc, the only difference is that weed won't make you grab an Uzi and climb a clock tower.

the great thing about psycologist is they're good listeners have a look in the paper for couciling leasons but I don't think you really need it that much perhaps a little but I get in modes just like that you can't always react in overly dramitic way about everything and you don't cry every single time someone or something dies. It's just our insticts we're suppose to be wild hunters but we evolved I say if you hate you should embrace it heck I do and I don't care about thumbs down and violation notices I'll just get another account and come back. So do you know what I'm saying? if you don't think you need counciling don't bother,

You may be suffering from Post traumatic Stress Disorder. See PTSD, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on pages 33 - 34, and examine the 1-800-therapist website, and use the locators in section 1, and phone book, and/or various associations for psychiatrists and psychologists, to find the nearest one using EMDR therapy. If unable to afford it, contact the county/local mental health agency: any therapy on offer may prove helpful, particularly if combined with appropriate medication.

Those are definitely things reasons to concern you. I would recommend consulting with a psychiatrist. They might be able to get down to whatever condition you might have. I'm sure there are lots of people that have felt the same and a psychiatrist would no best how to treat you. Good luck!

I would say a doc first. There are some things in your endocrine system that need to be checked out. A mental condition will rarely suppress the fight or flight reaction in the circumstances you describe. And he can decide if you need a scrip for antidepressants or if therapy would be better.

Everything you described is normal.

Don't sweat it.

Had a dream last nite that my dog got ate by some big fish. Scared the crap out of me. hehehe. Woke up immediately and looked for the dog. She was okay. And my heart was beating faster from that dream. Crazy stuff.
