No. It is allowed. In moderation, of course.

Of Course, That's why Jesus uses sparkling grape juice at the last supper!
As for turning water into wine (The Marriage of Cana), Jesus didn't want to, but had to obey the forth commandment, and hence his mother Mary's request. That is why Catholics believe she can intercede for us. That's John Chapter 2 if you want to look it up. And the second of Joyful Mysteries in the Rosary Prayer. Wine is an important part of the Messiah's coming as prophizied by Amos. And "New Wine in Old Wine Skins" parallels this story in the other 3 canon gospels and in the apocraphal gospel of Thomas.

There is no verse in the Bible that condemns alcohol consumption. Jesus turned jars of water into wine at a wedding, would he do that if people were not supposed to drink alcohol!! - John 2:3-11
In fact the wine is recorded in the Bible as being of the best quality. Notice that in John 2:10
"Do not drink water any longer, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach" - 1 Timothy 5:23
There is even a verse that says wine makes a man's heart rejoice. - Psalms 104:15
It is drunkards the Bible condemns and even associating with them. - Proverbs 23:20,21
The Bible is clear that moderate wine drinking is acceptable and healthy. Prohibitionists will argue that it is grape juice not wine but that is not what is told in the Bible. Wine has been around almost as much as humans have been around.
The Bible only condemns the heavy drinking and not of drinking alcoholic beverages itself.
I am sure Jesus and his disciples enjoyed a goblet of wine with their evening meals. No problem with that.

Well, drinking is allowed. However, the excess of drinking is prohibited. As the bible states things like drinking matches and being excessive is not only bad for your health you end up looking stupid. And really, as a christian you are an example to the rest of the world, so you do actually give God and his kingdom a bad name if you do so.

Most American Christians don't know that the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, instead of their planned destination because they ran out of beer. Most of the founding fathers where crocked, most of the time, and several where whiskey makers themselves.
The New Testament doesn't condemn the consumption of very many things at all, only excessive consumption. However, the reason why people drank beer and wine for so many centuries, is primarily because they didn't have clean water to drink. Today, we have plenty of clean water in America. Personally, I don't see the point of drinking, if you don't plan on getting crocked...

Jesus turned water into fine wine at a wedding feast; the Apostle Paul advised Timothy to "drink a little wine for the sake of [his] stomach".

Drinking alcohol is not forbidden. Many patriarchs did. And Jesus turned water into wine. What is not right is the overindulgence of alcohol. Or anything else, for that matter.
