No not at all. What would be wrong is if you left her by her self.

I have an eight yr old niece who is very private. She doesn't even like her three and five year old girl cousins to be with her in the room while she's changing clothes, so she probably wouldn't be very comfortable around me if I was changing. I definitely wouldn't leave her out. It's a dangerous world these days. I probably would have just left the trying on clothes for another day. But if you and your niece are close and she didn't mind, and you thought your brother or sister (her parent) wouldn't mind either, then I think it wouldn't be a problem.

Nope, I was a single mum up until a few years ago and had to take my little lads shopping with me. What I would do is if I had to try something on I would bring them in but have them sit with their backs to the door just outside of my stall. The stall doors were always off the ground so I could see if they tried to move anywhere.

I have a 10 year old boy, which I feel it's not right for me to take him with me. I make him sit in front of the door where I can still see him. Most of the doors do not go to the floor.

Heck no! I take my 8 year old- and younger kids too of course in there. I would NEVER leave a 8, 9 or even older alone. Too many psychotic people in this world- child molesters, kidnappers, killers and who knows what else. Always take her with ya!

no you weren't wrong. I do the same thing. either that or have my kid stay right outside the dressing room close enough that I can see his feet under the door, and I talk to him the whole time. you can never be to careful. kids can get kidnapped in the blink of an eye.

You did what was best for your niece. If you would of left your niece alone, then there was a chance that something bad would've happened. Not alot of people can be trusted anymore.

Why is it wrong? Unless you enjoy parading around in front of 9 year olds, don't worry.

I thing if she doesn't feel comfortable being in the same fitting room, you should not take her with you.

I don't think so. Legally, it's not really. But with the way people react these days one can barely even hug their kids in public without someone thinking they are attacking them or something.
