and will you needa pay a monthly fee or what? will i not be able 2 just watch local tv anymore without doing something? thnx

The only thing you'll need is a digital source, be it a DTV or set-top box, There is no fee to pay other than TV licence. You will still receive local TV channels. If you choose Sky Digital (for which of course there is a subsrciption), you will also receive local channels from all the regions.

Right now, you can pick up 2 kinds of free TV channels with an antenna:

- Analog
- Digital

The Analog signals will be going away in Feb, 2009. If you use an antenna, you will need to buy a converter box that goes between the antenna and your TV.
