My wife is suffering from slight Obsessive Compulsive Neurosis. Although earlier some treatment was done, now No medical treatment . Will it, if left untreated, lead to some kind of psychotic problems?
If this problem is not very much disturbing, is it not wise to leave it as it is? Or should I take prolonged treatment?
Please advise me

There are two schools of thought, one says neurotics untreated for a long time become severe and turn psychotics. The other school says 'no, they are two different dimension altogether; when faced with unmanageable life crisis their could be either a neurotic response or the psychotic response and not one after another.Either way the problem is "solved",albeit in an abnormal way, why take both one after another.I think that the latter is true to reality.

hi..this is from very personal experience..a close friend of mine is suffering from obsessive compulsive neurosis...the only solution which i can suggest and which seemed to work was absolute patience with the person.the more you push him/her to visit docs the worse it will become..take it as a habit and bear with it..believe me it wont lead to become a psychotic problem...docs will drive him/her up the wall..even if there are no signs of psychosis..you..and that person will start perceiving it to be...please its a genuine suggestion..let the person be..the more relax she and you..that is the surrounding will be..the more normal things will become for him...be patient...that is the only mantra.give her a lot of love and a relaxed environment..she should feel belonged..dont push her away..make her feel normal and wanted.be very understanding towards her and withen a short span you'll notice a sea change...
all the best.

No, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) will not lead to psychosis. (I am assuming you mean, by psychosis things like hallucinations, delusions and so on). They are completely different types of disorders - it's like asking if cancer will lead to a broken leg. Severe OCD can however be a big problem, so it is better if your wife continues to get treatment unless the health professional tells her it is no longer needed.

No not nessarily not unless she become biopolar with psychosis or just by having psychosis alone. What she has could possibly lead into manic depression which means she would be bipolar she needs to be treated at all times because it can get worse.
