I know for a fact who the king of the vegetables is..he is not feared, for he lies low, under the radar. Nobody suspects this mean veggie, he is deadly, he is stealthy, and most important, he is good for you. HIs name....
The potato.
The potato is the unsung beast of the wilderness. It is a very vicious spud, and when it attacks, the best you can hope for is a speedy death because there is no way in hell you are going to escape its deadly grasp. It has been known to attack its vegetable brothers, other plants, animals, and even the occasional human! In fact, in the war with Vietnam, the Vietnamese jungle-dwelling tree potato was used in a very seldom known war tactic. It was called Spud-bombing. The people of Vietnam would skillfully place these horrid beasts in nets and secure them in the treetops. Then they would get a safe distance away and wait. When an enemy was unfortunate enough to wander under these deadly tree traps, the Vietnamese would drop them onto their heads. The horrid shrieks of those soldiers was enough to make your blood run cold. The tree potatoes, completely devoured them within minutes, then scamper back into their homes within the trees. Sick stuff, really.
The potato is elusive, bad-tempered, and extremely damaging to one's feelings. It is the kind of vegetable that will take you out on a night on the town and make you feel like the most beautiful girl alive one day, only to leave you to an empty bed the next morning, without even so much as a phone number to reach him..
sigh...
Anyways...I guess the king of the fruit would be the apple...because he keeps the doctor away...or something...

King of Fruits: The apple! It's got lots of nutrients, and among the fruits, it's the "neutral" one in terms of sugar. It's good for healthy people to stay healthy (rich in vitamins!) and for diabetics or pre-diabetics. Diabetics can't eat certain sugar-loaded fruits. It's a complex carbohydrate too, I think. Because of that, they get processed by the body slower, energy for the body lasts a lot longer, and it doesn't spike up the sugar (therefore not spike up the insulin) so much.
King of Vegetables: Broccoli. High in vitamin C, soluble fiber, and anti-cancer properties. It's great steamed, sauced up, or raw! It's the vegetable of choice for people trying to lose weight or to gain muscles because you get most vitamins/nutrients you need.

King of the fruits? it's got to be the banana, nothing quite like it, it can be eaten as a savory or sweet, it looks fun.
King of the Vegetables? the potato every time, mash, roast, chipped, boiled, how can you say no?
