Wine would be a great idea, especially if he likes wines. You should check out Gary Vaynerchuks website tv.winelibrary.com. He has great short videos on which he tastes and suggests wines. You could find a nice wine on there though. I agree that a red wine is a good idea. May I suggest the 2005 Zardini Valpolicella Superiore. Its fantastic and only about $20.

If he is of age, put it in the center of a basket, with a wine glass on either side, and some mints, nuts or cheese around it. Wrap it in colored cellophane, and put a bow on it. It will be a beautiful gift too!!!

I would go for a sweet campaign. If you go for a Chardonnay I would recommend a brand called Fat Bastard and it has a pic of a hippo on it. It is out there and I love it myself.
