So I've been talking back and forth with this girl for quite some time. I've known her for around 9 years, but I've only recently taken interest in her. The problem is that she perceives me as a brother-like figure. Is there anything that I can do to make her see otherwise, or even to convince her that I can be more?

I see some of my male friends in a brother-like figure and one of them does want to go out with me. My best advice to give you is tell her you really do have an interest in her and you want to be more then just a brother-like figure to her. Tell her what your truly feel.

i've been told that once your in the stage your at, that's it, ur stuck, she will always think of you that way unless you casually bring it up to her that you do like her more then a friend and hope she feels the same, it's a hard situation to deal with because she will either take an interest in you as well or be weirded out that you like her that way, you obviously know her better then anybody here so that's up to you on what you want to do, honestly if you have been friends for nine years, i'd keep it that way and find somebody else to have a relationship with

the problem is you known her too long. With time builds a great bond of trust and i guess thats why she may see you as a brother. This is irreversible. I'm sorry its not possible.

if you've been friends for nine years then hitting on her out of the blue will just confuse her. Tell her flat out that you like her.

I would be very careful!! You might think that you want something and then when it happens you don't then your left without a bestfriend. If my bestfriend (who's a guy) said that I would freak... I talk to him about EVERYTHING and i wouldn't want to risk losing him and everything he does for me.

Start by being flirty, then do romantic gestures. This will make her see you in a new light.

All you can do is keep telling her.
