Ok what's up with that? You can't ask complete strangers what you should give someone for Christmas or their birthdays!!
We don't know the person; you do!!!!
And just so you know, that's 90% of giving. It's finding that perfect gift they will love.
If you don't know your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, sister, brother, mother well enough to find a perfect gift, you have a completely different problem!
yeah I know it's not a question so sue me!
Here's my question, why don't people care enough to find out from their loved ones what they like and want?
I have enough stupid candles to last me a life time and seriously just from what you've read so far, do I really sound like a candle person to you?
Yeah I'm the poster child for tranquility!

Oh whoa is me.... what should I do? I'll just ask others to do the thinking for me because it's soooo much easier than thinking for myself. I wish I was smarter but ignorance is bliss so why should I try?

I wish I had my parents back! It was simpler times when they just told me what to do. I'm not ready for this... help! Somebody just tell me what to do... and hurry, I'm not growing any younger.

While I can understand your point, after seeing so many questions of "what should I get my boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband/sister/brother/mother/etc." without any additional details, I also agree that sometimes it's nice to have some differing opinions to come up with unique gift ideas that those loved ones in our lives would never suspect. I do wish that those asking for gift advice would provide some small details - hobbies, ages, interests, work, etc., otherwise, they'll really not get any suggestions that fit the person at all.

When you give a gift, it should be a reflection of how much someone means to you. Why not give an I.O.U. card to the person. Eg... A sister you would give a I.O.U. a movie and dinner. This will also ensure you have further contact through the year to come.

I ask my family for a wish list for their birthday and at Christmas. If I don't get one, they get money. I'm tired of giving what I think are nice gifts and then seeing them in a garage sale the next summer.
