I just saw a question where a guy asked for prayer, and a bunch of atheists wrote stuff like "No" and "God isn't real". I think there should be a section for spirituality and a section for religious debate, so that all the people on both sides who just want to see who is smarter/prove they are right/stroke their pride can have a place to do it away from people who are asking for Christian life advice and prayer. What do you think?

Oh, and some for the other religions too.
And how do you think we could go about getting y answers to change this? Bull-fighting is it's own section, Christianity, Buddhism, New age, Islam, atheism, and Hinduism should be too.

I like it this way.
If they broke R&S into seperate categories, I'd still hang out in R&S, answering from every category.
Prayer requests are a TOS violation, so you'll get no quarter with that one.

This is what I would like to suggest
General Discussions
1. Judaism
2. Christianity
3. Islam
4. Other religions
Learn About
1. Judaism
2. Christianity
3. Islam
4. Other Religins.
Another suggestion:
New Qurestions are placed on top of first page pushing the earlier questions downwards which is OK. But every time an answer is written, it should be placed back on top of first page so members can read the answers. When no one answers then slowly it can get pushed downward by new questions.
In Current system some time I am writing an answer and by the time I post my answer I cannot find the question bcoz it is on second or third page. The following forum works the way I am suggesting.

It is a great idea, but unless you were able to find a way to prevent trolls from getting into the sections, I think you would see the same as you do now. One thing I would miss however, is the different take that some people have on a question. There have been times when an unexpected source has the answer I needed and it might be very limiting if we all went our separate ways.

You're right that is a great system, but there is a site that already does that, beliefnet.com. I think that they meant for this to be a place for any type of question dealing with religion and spirituality.
Although it is certainly someones right to ask for prayers here, especially if they've become "friendly" with some of the other posters, but because it is an open forum, maybe, if they don't want "hecklers" to answer they should opt for emailing those friends, or trying to go to a website that doesn't allow those types of posts.

I always found it a bit funny how the most devoutly religious-minded were the ones mostly unable to live in harmony with others. I'm sure yahoo seperating each and every religion (or atheist) into its own private group, and setting a flaming sword password before each group demanding the secret code before allowing entrance, would make those who can't practice their faith outside of an insular existence better, but that begs the question: if you can't practice your faith among those who don't agree with you, how strong is your faith to begin with?
If a Christian (Muslim, Hindu, atheist, whatnot) cannot handle someone intruding in on their little meeting without getting antsy, dontcha think it might be 'God' doing that, seeing if the person has got the cojones to stick with it? I'm sure there are plenty of religious passages about trials and tests, why can't they arrive as pixels on a computer screen?

I like the idea of a separate section for debates, but since this is a Q&A site rather than a debate site, I don't think yahoo will go for it.

Yes, I agree.
Even though some answers seem to be the have best answer according to one belief with facts and verses, it was voted t/down or even got reported.

No, this melting pot is great.
The only thing is that there should be much better oversight on the whole reporting/violation system. The Y/A staff are completely incompetent and utter bufoons when it comes to violations

The Atheists you mention need to use some of their enlightenment to figure out what decency means. I don't pray, but that upsets me.
And I think you raise a very legitimate point and I agree with you.
