hi I am 14 years old and my step mom is kind of mean to me. If I get a bad grade on my homework or if I look at her funny she will hit me or not let me eat. Sometimes she will lock me in my room and not let me eat or go to the bathroom. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong? Am I to old for this to really be child abuse? I don't know what to do.

If she is doing this it is abuse. You need to tell someone at school what is going on at your house and they will know who to call. You are not too old to be abused. When you go to school tomorrow go to the office and tell them that you need someone to talk to. They will be very helpful. Where is your father?

depends on how hard she's hitting you, and how long you can't eat. Anything more than one meal is too much. I do think it's quite overboard that she won't let you use the restroom. You are not too old for it to be child abuse because you are still a minor until you turn 18. Find an ADULT that you trust, maybe at school (teacher/ counselor) and tell them the situation to find out what they think about it. Go into detail with them so they can make a sound decision.

Yes, absolutely this is abuse, it is illegal, and you should not be having to put up with it.
You need to tell an adult - a counselor at school is probably the best.
If you don't, your mom will never get the help she needs to stop being this way, and you really need to be in a healthy environment.
This kind of thing can have a very long lasting effect on your life.

Yeah, not letting you eat or go to the bathroom isn't a normal punishment. It's almost like torture since it's depriving you of your human needs. I also don't think hitting is the right way to react to a look. It sounds like she has anger issues but that's something you probably already know. I can't really offer much else but I hope things get better.

Hitting, not letting you eat and locking you in the room are all illegal AND wrong.

YES...you are being abused. Talk to someone in your school office or the police. You DO NOT DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS! No matter what you have done.

Yes, this is abuse. Talk to a counselor or teacher you trust at school. If that person won't help you, talk to another teacher who will. They are required by law to report what you say to Child Protective Services (CPS). CPS will help you get into a safe situation.

look for help , it is abuse, youre not too old abuse can be experienced by anyone of any age, if u can (and i know youre scared possibly) but if u can please try and find a help line or maybe the local police non emergency line and ask them for a number of child abuse advocates and help centers, u can report even if youre not old enough to be legal, if u know someone u trust who might know or u can tell confide in them and try to seek help, i feel for you, and want you to know there is help out there, i work with kids and adults alike in abusive situations....

you are ABSOLUTELY being abused. it's child abuse until you're 18, and after that, it's called ASSAULT. you need to get out of there and call the police before you she goes too far. it is NOT ok for her to withhold food or lay a hand on you EVER! get out and call the police! talk to your dad (if you can) or anyone at school. just tell them what you told us and they'll know what to do.

Sounds like abuse to me. Are you sure you are not exagerating? Talk to your Dad and see what he has to say. If he agrees with her punishments, then tell your school counselor. She shouldn't treat you this way......and be sure you are not exagerating either for attention.
