if this is important to you, it should be important to your mom.
but dont get all dramatic over it to much, just realize that at least your mom will be there to support you along the way even if it doesnt involve being at your first meet. i bet you she would come if she could or if she had time. there will be other meets along the way. reconize what you have before its gone... trust me, i wish i did.

You may be over-reacting. Maybe your mom (or her friend, for that matter) is having some serious life troubles and she does not want to tell you, as her child, what they are. You will likely have many more performances (congrats on the gymnasitcs), but this may be an only chance to fix a problem...you know?

Yes, I would be mad. I think you have experienced this other times because you have a selfish Mom, don't you? She only thinks of herself and what she wants. That is what is most important to her. Do your gymnastic performance and be your best. You sound like a great daughter in spite of her. Do it for yourself,.

Yes. I would be mad and hurt. I would tell her than it's really important to you that she goes and asks if she can see her friend another time. You only have a first show ONCE! Unless her friend is on her death bed or is getting wheeled into surgery it can wait a couple of hours.

I would be extremely mad! Have you tried telling her that it's very important to you that she be there? If you're honest, I think she'll come around. She can talk to her friend anytime, but this is an important performance that she shouldn't miss for anything.

If this is a friend that your mom can not see or talk to very often then you should be understanding.
This is your first performance, there should be plenty more after that I am sure she will attend.

You have every right to be upset! Maybe your mom doesn't realize how important this is to you, you should sit her down and talk to her and see what she says. Moms are not mind readers. And if your mom doesn't act like she cares well then best of luck to you and let her know just how hurt you really are.

You are not overreacting, this is something important to you. You should try to talk to you mom about it, but unfortunately, not everyone is a great parent.
Good luck at the performance!

I would be mad because you worked so hard and it is your first show. I think your mom should support you especially since she is probably paying for you! You would think she would want to see where he money is going to

is her friend going through a tough time or something? there must be a good reason for your mom to miss something so obviously important to you. talk to her. ask her why it's so critical for her to meet with her friend right then. :)
