Speaking in tongues, ( languages, not just mumblings or non-sense ) was a sign to show the people who the real men of God were. There is no need for this kind of sign now, and as the Bible says, this kind of sign would cease. Now we have the completed Bible, it is the Holy written word of God. Anything more than the Bible is not of God. The next time we see a prophet, it will be the two prophets that appear at the beginning of the Great Tribulation, which is three and one half years after the Tribulation begins.

I don't buy that idea that it is a language only angels can understand. How can anyone think that would fool Satan? He was an angel, for Pete's sake. He's a fallen angel. And he's probably a lot smarter than any of us.

The Bible says that if anyone speaks in tongues, there should be someone on hand who can actually interpret what's being said or else it's useless.

Speaking in tounges is simply just another language. The Holy Ghost in the Bible is speaking in tounges. This is explained in Joel and Isaiah when they were prophesying..saying that this is going to happen. Then, in the New Test. it tells of people speaking in tounges and also says that it was what Joel and Isaiah was talking about. Acts 2:38 explains how people are required to get saved....and also goes on to say that they will receive the Holy Ghost that is PROMISED to them. So with that said, people who are TRULYsaved will receive the Holy Ghost and speak in tounges. If you need exact verses and proof, email me and I will be happy to show you. I only go by the KJV Bible.

Many people do not believe in the speaking of tounges today; however, God is the same today, yesterday and forever. The Bible states that we will receive that gift once we are saved, and the Bible does not lie and the words do not change. So, yes, tounges till happen today to those people who are saved and believe in it( because in order to receive the gift..you HAVE to believe in it...it only makes sense!) God is not unfair...and just because it happened many decades ago, does not mean God is going to take that gift away from us now-- He loves everyone the same, no matter what deacade it is!!
Hope that helps!

I do not believe that people speak in tongues today.

I believe that in the Bible, when the apostles spoke in tongues, it means that they were heard in all the different people's languages. It would be as if I were standing here speaking, and people from China, Spain, Africa, and Germany could understand me just as if I were speaking their language.

I do NOT believe that it means they were speaking some garbled language that no one could understand, because that doesn't make sense at all.

Hope this helped... ^_^

During Pentecost, when the disciples received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, they spoke in known tongues. But, outside of this event, whenever speaking in tongues is mentioned (by Paul) in the NT, he is talking about a heavenly language, an unknown tongue.

Sometimes its the tongues or lanauges of men, and sometimes it the tonuges or language of angels.

The word "tongues" means "languages" which have not been learned by the person speaking.

And yes, I'm one of the those college educated people who speaks in tongues.

Why don't you Christian understand that
"Speaking in tongues "

means,

The one speaking in tongue, the words that comes out from his/her mouth can be either Lie or Truth.

eg
Speaking from Heart means
The one speaks his/her is speaking his/her true intention.
