"Marry ONLY in the lord"
1 Cor. 7:39

why do some people follow principles such as the abstinence of blood and idolatry, but yet ignore this principle that is a lot easier to follow

Remember:
"The person faithful in what is least is faithful also in much, and the person unrighteous in what is least is unrighteous also in much" - Luke 16:10

NOTE: I don't claim myself as faithful

Hooligan: Why can't some people claiming to be Jehovah's Witnesses admit that the Organization is not perfect, that's the only way we can let Jehovah's light shine through. Very good Hooligan.

Party Girl: It might be an obsession. An obsession about making others realize that some people are not what they seem to be.

Because many people only show loyalty to their own wants and desires and not to God's laws and guidelines. Marrying outside of Jehovah's Organization is the same type of disloyalty and selfishness as Eve showed when she claimed through her actions that she knew what was best for herself.

Jehovah's Witnesses are advised to marry those who have the same beliefs.

"Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness?" -- 2 Corinthians 6:14

All me are imperfect and have moments of weaknesses. So, it would be absurd to ask for Jehovah's Witnesses perfection. There are rare cases when a Jehovah's Witness marries a person who has other beliefs. In most of the times that Jehovah's Witness gives up to his faith or is inactive. That is why every true Christian must cleave to Jehovah by studying the Scriptures daily. This way he will stay strong spiritually and avoid dangers.

"That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned." -- Romans 5:12

"But it is to Jehovah your God that you should cleave, just as you have done down to this day." -- Joshua 23:8

"Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of persons ought you to be in holy acts of conduct and deeds of godly devotion, awaiting and keeping close in mind the presence of the day of Jehovah..." -- 2 Peter 3:11.12

People Marry for love, sometimes they find love in people other than their own Faith. Its a choice they make. Many regret their decisions years later, but its something they have to live with. As a whole Witnesses do Marry Witnesses.
