Cirrhosis of the liver is quite different when
it come to regenerating than a normal
healthy liver is.
In cirrhosis, scar tissue forms inside the
liver when the liver cells die. This scar
tissue blocks the flow of blood to the
healthy cells that are left. That means
that they are not getting the nourishment
and oxygen they need to exist and can
die also. When the liver cells regenerate,
this scar tissue also blocks them and instead of connecting to other healthy
cells, they tend to bunch up against the
scar tissue and this is why a cirrhosed
liver appears like it has nodules all over it,
or lumps. But, even these new cells are
blocked from blood because of the
scar tissue. If you want to see a
cirrhosed liver, just go to your search engine and choose the image link and
type in liver cirrhosis. A normal liver is
smooth, soft and pliable. Most people
who cook liver know what a liver looks like.
A cirrhosis liver is lumpy, harder texture.

A lot of people who drink, if they stop drinking before it gets to the stage of
scar tissue forming, can be cured.
Usually, liver disease starts out as
inflammation inside the liver. With med and
stopping alcohol it can be cured. But,
when it reaches to the point that the cells
start to die, then they doctor will try to slow
the process down and keep whatever
healthy cells are still alive. So, no matter
which you find yourself in...stopping the
alcohol is best.
When the liver is damage, you have to think of the body trying hard to heal itself. This can cause the person to feel quite tired.
Most liver patients, this is the first sign
they have since the liver performs many
different functions, over 500 of them and
when the liver is struggling to do this, you
can only imagine the effect it has on the
patient.

I hope this answers your question.

Successful treatment for alcohol-related liver disease (ARLD) often depends on whether someone is willing to stop drinking alcohol, and make changes to their lifestyle.
Stopping drinking alcohol

I am not a doctor but I assume that once the damage is done it is not rejuvenated because the liver has been destroyed by the alcohol abuse.
