I have a vegitable steamer. It is NOT a rice steamer. I has a water boiling base, which contains an oblong slotted basket, and a solid basket sits inside of the slotted basket with a clear plastic lid. Can I cook rice in the solid basket? What would be a basic recipe and how to?

Don't recommend it. Make it in the microwave. For each one cup rice place two cups liquid with it in a microwave safe container. Cover. Cook 15-20 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Let sit 5 minutes.Be careful uncovering-steam will emerge.

if you use instant rice and what you do put some water not alot inpan and put rice in there and then it comes to boil. it will boill and make sure its all wet and let it steap. it takes only minutes. then put some cut up cabbage, catsup, onion hamb and tomatoe soup. stir together and put in oven for one hour 350. its great and good. spices in meat are salt, pepper, garlic, onions, and anything else hot for spciy its good.
