Please, we want to make a kiddush Hashem, not a chillul Hashem. Let's all try to do that even though it can be very hard sometimes. Just reminding you...

I agree Yael! To explain the terminology --

Hashem (literally "The Name) is how we (Jews) refer to G-d, since we should be careful not to use His name except in prayer. (Do not take the name of the L-rd in vain.) A Kiddush Hashem is a sanctification of G-d's name. When we answer with respect, in order to be helpful, and never in a derogatory way, we sanctify G-d's name. A chilul Hashem is the opposite.

Hi, Thanx for the reminder. I didn't know there were that many Jews on here though. If there are you can't tell by the screen name. But how is this a question? I guess the question is if we can make a kidush Hashem instead of a chillul Hashem, so then yes, I will try to continue making a kidush Hashem!

OK. I'll work on that!!! Today we said the Hanukkah Blessings - I think that we did good. Is that considered Kiddish Hashem? I hope so.
Happy Hanukkah.

What's a hashem? I have heard that Hashem is sometimes a reference to God, but I don't know what you just said.

The ultimate act of Kiddush Hashem is when a Jew is prepared to sacrifice his life rather than transgress any of God’s three cardinal sins: Serving idols (belief in another religion), committing certain sexual acts (such as incest or adultery), or committing murder.

I think we can all learn to follow this. Jew or Gentile. don't you think? I personally am definitely prepared to sacrifice my own life then desecrate the laws of YHWH

Dear Yael and other friends,

I didn't mean to click on this question, honest! But anyway, may the blessing of the Most High be upon you and your families. Numbers 6 has a beautiful blessing, and I hope that you all may enjoy this season. A Happy Hanukkah to you all.
