The comment will always be "Cause I think your answer sucks." or "Cause I agree with your answer." so there's really no point in a system so people can spam the same two comments over and over...

I to have thought of this ....however some questions would require so much explanation in a answer that it would really become a lecture in it's self .....I just look at the overall content and rate it on that ,but sometimes although there is some truth in the answer the error..(as I see it )..requires that it gets the thumbs down

Apparently, people can also click on "report abuse" and your question will be automatically deleted without explanation from Yahoo. It is just too big of a website to monitor and Yahoo doesn't care if your feelings get hurt for thumbs down. I see perfectly good questions disappear and a lot of thumbs down for good answers.
My advice is don't take the opinions of strangers personally. They really don't matter at all!

I really don't care. I am actually flattered that so many here think so highly of my pissy side that they take the time to give me thumbs down. And also, some people simple don't like other vocal opinions and personalities. It's a fact of life in real life. Here is no different. They just have a way to display it.

I agree. Sometimes, although with facts and most logical/true answer, the answer got thumbs down more than t/ups.

Betcha everyone would say "stupidity" for a reason for thumbs down. That wouldn't really help you understand why they did it. In some cases it might be interesting though.

i don't think thumbs down has any effect except the satisfaction of watching a post disappear from your screen. maybe it would be nice to distinquish the just plain wrong answer from 'i can't believe you're so naive'.

That is a good suggestion. I think it should be also a good thing to see who has given you a thumb down.

I prefer when people don't give me feedback. There's nothing worse in my inbox than an angry, practically unintelligible email from someone who didn't like my answer.
I understand what you mean though.
