It's not unheared of where I live for a 16-17 year old to date a guy who's 23-24. a good friend of mine is 20 and his girfriend is 16. The parents don't mind that. But it's different when you are 23. My friend is 16. I can't tell you how much we relate. We've spent hours talking about nothing lol. And hours talking about everything. We've known each other for 3 years and it's cool. I've almost convinced myself to talk to her and her mom (spepretly and mom first) about asking her out. But I can't quiet get myself to do it. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the age gap. If her mom told me no I'd back off and never bring it up again. Her mom's a friend I went to college with. She's mature for her age, if a bit of a rebel. For those of you who don't think Im crazy, can you give me good ideas? Maybe some stories of your own if you have been in a similer situation? I dout her mom would call the cops. just don't know how to ask her permission...any ideas? (lenghty if possable)?

If you say that it is legal in your state for that type of age gap, then I suggest you do talk to her mother first and separately. Although it pains me to respond, I must say that you wanting to speak to her mother about your feelings is a good thing. I think if you let her know that you like her 'baby' and will NEVER go any further than her daughter can maturely handle, mom may be able to see past the age difference. I only say this because you say there is legal in your State. I respect the fact that you are reaching out to find a way to deal with your feelings. I hope you find your answer.

well when my mom and my dad got married they had a nine years difference so it may help with that in mind. But since she is 16 and not a full grown adult like u r i would not do the asking. I am sure if you wait you'll be fine. When your gut says no it is RIGHT . However, if you cannot possibly wait one more second, then maybe you can talk to her mother politely and make it clear that you won't date her if her mother does not approve. Offer the option of waiting for her to grow older and then you will wait.

Well a you must have been 20 when she was thirteen when you first met, that is quite disturbing.
Any way to ask for permission would make her mother and father very happy, **** they might like you more than the girl for doing that, if you need to date a 16 year old chick then you deffinatelly should ask permission.

Does the girl want to date you? Don't ask the parents before you know if she likes you. It'd be a waste and embarrassing. It does seem a bit odd to me that you would want to date a 16 year old. You'll need to be careful, because certain actions you might take could be illegal. You'd have to check state law for that, as it varies from state to state. I'm also not really sure why you feel a need to ask the parents. If the girl likes you and it's legal, can they really do anything?
