All I can say is you have to pull yourself together with your own strength and you can do that.. I was depressed pretty bad myself for a while.. probably since I was about 8.. My mother was a druggie and she died jan 2006 from a drug over dose. I never took pills for it or really back then talked to people much.. but when I cracked after my mom died and wanted to die so much.. I did too think of ways to die and thoughts of drugs and I started drinking a lot. But you have to go into the light and just think what is my purpose in life? And if you don't no then make it your goal to find out. What use to make you happy? Doesnt matter if it is the stupidest thing in the world. If a peanut butter and jelly sandwich makes you happy.. then you eat it and you savor that whole thing. Go outside and feel that sunshine, rain or snow... take the feeling of it close to you and feel the emotions that are around you... I always said to myself that the pain was al I had.. the only thing that made me feel real.......Don't loose hope. Make yourself trust people again...talk to a stranger and say hello that you see on the street looking sad. Seeing someone smile always helped me make my day better... just that slit smile...... I don't no if I helped you. I am half a sleep right now but I wish the best of luck and don't worry you are not the only one out there that is going through this. People with the same feelings always helped me through my tough times...... good night

Get away from everything. Get away from the setting you are in, get off the drugs, yes drugs, and do things that make you happy. Get away from computers, tvs, and anything that upsets you. Find peace. Talk to someone, like a priest, a professional, or just a friend. Try reading happy stories or listening to good music. Music is often the best remedy for sadness. Volunteer or help those that are less fortunate. And always remember this one fact There IS someone out there having a much worse day than you, so remember it could always be worse. Good luck with that. If it doesn't work out, dont expect anyone to be sorry for you. Your an adult, you should be able to handle yourself.

Hi nsjmjg,
I'm sorry things are so hard for you right now. I know how difficult it can be to negotiate relationships with parents, peers and co-workers/friends.
First things first: you're not crazy. You are, however, specially challenged. Are you, perhaps, a gifted person? Someone with a higher than normal intellect? If so, this is pretty normal emotional development and you shouldn't worry as long as you're in control. You'll want to get a handle on your negative thought process. I've experienced it a lot myself, and found that aversion therapy worked for me. I put a couple of rubber bands on my wrists and when I had a crappy thought, like "I suck" or "Nobody likes me," I would give it a heckuva snap. That was enough to bring me out of the funk I was in because it hurt so much.
You'll want to remember that the voice in your head is NOT you. The voice in your head that's telling you awful things is the product of commercials, pop culture, your folks arguing, criticizing and what-not. The voice that IS you is harder to hear and you'll have to silence that other one first. Once you do, you'll be able to figure out exactly what your purpose is in life.

Depression involves brain chemicals. The off and on way you are taking your meds means your depression will be equally mercurial. Drinking doesn't help it any, either. Alcohol is a depressant! It's no wonder you're having those painful thoughts.

While you are addressing those issues, make an appointment with a counselor so you can begin solving your issues. Start right away so you will know that relief is coming soon.

You should see a psychiatrist if you aren't already because they can't talk about you behind your back, they can probably also fix up your medication. You probably know this but drinking and poping pills won't help at all. Maybe you should give your family some info on what you're going through so they can understand and help you. Maybe you need to surround yourself with knew people that are nicer to you.

I dream of my own death a lot too. However the dream is a mirror image of our thoughts. That does not mean they are what we are thinking, but what the opposite of our subconscience is. I suggest you begin to wead out all your changes in your life and see which one is causing your anxiety because dreams of death are usually feelings of uncertainty about the future. Remember learn from the past, live in the present, and embrace the future! Life goes on even if we don't.

Look for a book by Dr. Neil Nedley called "Depression The Way Out". Then make sure you are getting both sunshine and rest. You can email me if you need to download. I kinda know how you feel.
