Well it depend in which religion you are talking about. However, in Islam the soul is not the body. So, things like being crazy doesn't make the soul crazy too.

Maybe they are crazy cause they have no soul? Maybe some clerical error in Heaven gave them two souls and this makes them crazy...
who knows, especially when there's no scientific evidence to support the existence of a soul.

I think people are prone to things when they are born. Depending on their environment and the nurturing they receive growing up it may or may not develop. Someone born with a tendency to mental illness may develop "craziness" under certain circumstances while others may not. I also think that people who are not born with a strong tendency toward mental illness can be driven to it. If anything ever happened to my children I KNOW I would go crazy, even if I don't have that tendency.

You know what? They experiment transfusing blood for the insane people into monkeys and they (the monkeys) are behave wild, aggressive and crazy. What does that tells us ?
