Actually Jesus did not die on cross. Paul a jew and big enemy of Jesus changed the doctrine of Christianity to make them believe that Jesus died on cross. But again it was really difficult to justify the death of Messiah. So, he created this idea of original sin, death for sin etc. It is absolutely meaningless to believe that reward of any sin is death. That too physical death. If physical death is the reward, whoever die should automatically be saved. But they continued and added one more point that even after death disgrace is another punishment. It is too awkward to believed that God made such a law for which he himself have to come and die.

Spirtual death and physical death are essentially the same, except one is eternal the other isn't. In other words the physical death leads to the spiritual death.
Jesus experienced physical death and suffering for a limited time and it was sufficient for are sins. Remember Jesus is God and therefore worth more than all of creation combined, so that is why he could suffer punishment for a short time, and pay for the sins of the world. Also as we were corrupted by one man Adam, we were made righteous by one man Jesus.
The reason for the ressurection is to receive new immortal bodies since the first ones have been corrupted by sin. Our spiritual side is regenerated by the holy spirit which we receive from God, when we receive the sacrifice of Jesus as payment for our sins.

Jesus only died to His mortal body. His soul was not containable by Satan. Jesus escaped not just the Physical death for He show en Himself with His wounds to 500 people. Jesus spent time with His disciples and then returned to the Father. Jesus had a temporarily physical death and rose again in flesh and in Spirit and returned from where He came. Jesus was born of a virgin conceived by the Holy Spirit. Sent by God to be the final perfect sacrifice for all man kind. For all that will believe in Him will never parish but have everlasting life. A believer will still have a physical death but our soul will go to be with Allah, God , Jehovah, Yahweh, Jesus , The God of Jacob, Isaac and Abraham in heaven.

Jesus died a SPIRITUAL death as well as a physical. Tom Brown, a prominent charismatic minister has a website that explains the spiritual death of Christ. Take a look at this link. http://tbm.org/jesussuffershell.htm

This is how I understand it...
Physical death is the result of sin starting with Adam. Because of sin throughout history of mankind, there is disease, war, genetic mutations, etc. Now I may not die directly from my sin but my physical body will die as a result of Adam's sin.
When Jesus was tortured but was without guilt, He suffered for everyone's sin, including yours and mine. He took the beating that we all deserve.
When Jesus physically died, His spirit went into the bowels of hell in our place because He carried the sins of the world with Him. But because He is God, He defeated death and His spirit returned to the physical body.
Basically, Satan thought he was trading all of our souls for the soul of Jesus, the Son of God, but he underestimated the power of God.

Physical death AND loss of grace is the universal penalty for sin.
And if that decrepit situation is not remedied before this earthly existence is complete, it becomes permanent and eternal, with hell as the only suitable dwelling place.
Jesus permitted himself to be physically put to death in order to destroy satan's evil dominion, and to redeem us, but he was never guilty of any sin, so there was no loss to either his human soul, or his divine spirit ... and even his dead, physical body was competely restored, just three days later.

The wage of sin is DEATH. Thats why we die. We're sinners.
Jesus provided a physical death so that we could be saved, to live forever in a new incorruptible, immortal body.

Under Jewish law to atone for sin you had to make a sacrifice of your most valuable possession. We do not have anything great enough to pay off the debt incurred by our sin, so Christ is the sacrifice for us to pay of a debt that we could not afford. In order to have our debt paid, that is, forgiven of sin, we must both accept the payment and honor it. If we did not honor the payment, and continued sinning, we would fall right back into debt, so we need to honor it and sanctify ourselves through the Holy Spirit.

God knows that humans by themselves can't get into heaven. So he sent his son to die in our place. That way there's only one death and two lifes. If we don't accept and believe what Jesus did for us, then there's one life and two deaths. It's not hard to figure out.
