So today(12/9/07) at 3 a.m I got pulled over for driving drunk. The officer did about 7 different tests including a breathalyzer and I failed them horribly. On the breathalyzer I got a .11 and everything else I did pretty bad. I seriously thought that I was going to get a DUI but the officer acted more like a "friend" saying that my life is too valuable and things like that instead of being a "cop" threatening to give me a DUI and scaring the **** out of me. I fully understand I broke the law and should've receive the penalties but I'm wondering why the cop didn't do anything when I'm putting others at risk. I don't want to call the cop stupid but I've been wondering for awhile why he still let me go. Driving drunk is a serious thing and I left with absolutely nothing. No citation, no ticket, NOTHING. I'm 19 years old now, living in Howard County, Maryland. So my question is do cops allow people off with a serious matter like this? and why?

try not to flame, I already feel bad.

Letting you go is one thing, allowing you to drive, was a disgrace, and a serious error.

People like you are the reason I would NEVER let someone walk if they are deuce.
He was cutting you a break because you have your whole life ahead of you, and probably figured at age 19 you have a chance to turn it around.
And now you are in here running your mouth about it.
You have a definite maturity problem. Coming in here and calling the Officer stupid, when you could have been calling your parents to come and bail your behind out of jail.
I hope it made you feel important.
I also hope he reads this, and realizes how wrong he was about you.

Wow! That sounds like an act of God. It does seem like you understand that what you did was ignorant and stupid, so I won't lecture you. But, do take it as a wake up call. Maybe this is God giving you a chance to clean yourself up. Because I BET if you ever get pulled over again you WILL get a ticket and get taken in to jail.

If the officer made a "specific risk" to you I.E. "Do what I permit you comprehend or i'm gonna kick your butt" , then you definately've a protection and a case of expert misconduct via a police officer. you may plead your case on your lawyer, yet once you have been "legally intoxicated" then the officer replaced into purely doing his or her duty. in distinctive states first offense of "using under the impact" is a criminal. Do you reside in a form of states? this is the main suitable suggestion you may and ought to have: Get an lawyer NOW !!!

Don't overanalyze it...thank him for the free pass, and call a cab next time and EVERY time.

Or have one drink. It's not THAT hard. Though in my state, even that will get your license suspended if you're underage.

Well, wait a minute. Check your wallet. Where's your license?

Thank your lucky stars you do not live in Texas and have to deal with the Texas State Troopers . You would be in jail and they would throw away the key.

Maybe the cop was in a good mood, don't ask questions, just learn from your mistake.
