Your parents will have to sign some paperwork to let you in. You should have a high school diploma. You don't go for basic for a week I think Marines go 13 weeks. After basic you go to your school to learn your MOS/job. Then you will have a chance to come home.

You can enlist if you're 18 (or 17 with parental consent) and have a high school diploma and no disqualifying issues. Marine Corps recruits attend 13 weeks of boot camp, followed by 10 days of "boot leave," (during which you go home for 10 days!) followed by combat training. (which varies in length, depending on if you've chosen an infantry-based MOS or not.) After combat training, you do NOT typically get leave, but transport directly to the schooling for your specific job.

No such thing as doing 1 week of boot camp... and in the Marine Corps, it's BOOT CAMP... not "Basic Training."

You have to have a high school diploma or GED and college credits.
You go to basic training for 13 weeks, but that will change to 11 weeks in January 08. It's intensive.
You can look at the Marines website, there's stuff on their for parents and would-be recruits.

My son just joined a week ago, so I know this stuff to be true.

at 17 you can sign up for the delayed entry program with you parents signature(permission). What the DEP does is gets all your paper work set up so when you graduate high school or attain your GED then you can ship off to boot camp. And you will not be at boot camp for 1 week. You will be there for 13 weeks.. straight. and will probably talk to your parents once during the whole time.

Yes, you can join the USMC at the age of seventeen, only with the consent of your legal guardian. Unless you are an emancipated minor. Bootcamp is thirteen weeks long. After bootcamp you get a ten day leave and then you will report to MCT, ( Marine Combat Training, infantry skills for non-infantry jobs.) or SOI (School of Infantry).

you may connect the Marines once you swap 18 w/o your guardians permission. yet till then, you ought to coach 17, then get your guardians permission. i actual relish your strategies on turning out to be a member of, as I see a failing era that negates American patriotism. I thank God that we nevertheless have those with adequate experience in them.
