It's dead once it's grown, so is paying $$ for hair repair products really worth it or would I just be wasting my cash? Anyone know anything that can temporarily improve the look of one's hair, if repairing it is out of the question?

You can get damaged hair to appear healthy and shiny again, but it takes work. First, don't use Pantene or any of that crap. It is NOT going to help, it's just generic conditioner.

When I was in beauty school I screwed my hair up something fierce. I bleached it one day, colored it the next, and the day after that I stripped it and started all over again. I did this a lot.

The best thing I ever found was Joico K-Pak Reconstuct. It's a bit expensive, but is a God send. You can only get it at salons, but I promise you it is worth the cash.

Before I started messing with my hair, people would stop me and tell me how beautiful and shiny my hair was. After using this product for a few weeks, people started saying it again.

Paul Mitchell Serums also work pretty well, but Joico should be your first choice.

Also a slight trim would help as well.
Good Luck!

my bangs used to be really damaged but now they are back to normal. i use Paul Mitchel's hair repair cream (also called original formula) its in a white squeezable tube. you put it in your hair once a week for about 5 min while its wet and it helps seal up split ends, adds moisture and softens hair. i love it. also it will help by cutting or just trimming your hair. the sooner you get the dead ends off the more chance you hair has of growing back healthy.

You can help damaged hair, but of course it will never be like natural, virgin re-grown hair.

Something good for damaged and chemically processed hair is Loreal's Nature Therapy Mega Moisture conditioner..it's about $7-10 I believe. It really helped my hair a lot.

ONCE DAMAGED YOU CAN SEMI REPAIR IT BUT IT WILL COME RIGHT BACK.
CUT IT OFF AND LET IT GROW OUT OR GO SUPER SHORT WHICH IS COMING IN FOR 2008. PIXIES AND OVER THE EARS CUTS ARE COMING BACK. GET A START ON THE TREND TO SHORTER HAIR.

If you have split ends the only way is to cut it. If it's severely dry try a deep conditioner. Pantene works wonders. As does Aussie 3 minute miracle.

seriously, just cut it off. if not, go for deep conditioning products. I use pantene deep conditioner once a week. you leave it in for 5-7 minutes and your hair looks amazing after. it depends on what type of hair you have, though.

one thing that might help is just getting it cut a lot shorter and getting rid of that dead hair, my hair is somewhat damaged because i color it all the time and i just started using dove shampoo/conditioner for damage therapy and it works really well!!
