O.k., sounds like you are having a mild reaction to the Penicillin (PCN).

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an severe allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

You could take the PCN tonight, personally I wouldn't until I talked to the doc...there are other antibiotics that you can take for the strep that are not related to the PCN. Missing one dose is not going to hurt anything.
But to keep in your parent's graces...see if you can compromise....see if they will let you take some benadryl (Diphenhydramine hydrochloride) with the PCN. It might make the rash go away, might not. But I would INSIST that the MD be called in the am. The doc needs to know about this reaction because it could progress to the "bad" reaction without any treatment.
Again, try the compromise if they are still insistent on you taking the pill.

Penicillin may cause a rash if you're allergic to it. The rash can be quite severe.

If you're having a reaction to the Penicillin (or any other medication) please contact your doctor right away.

You need the treatment for the strep throat, but you also need possible treatment for the allergic reaction.

All antibiotics do not do this to everyone. Rashes are relatively uncommon, but not unheard of. When the reaction is severe (difficulty breathing, etc.), it can be very dangerous.

Please consult with your physician that prescribed the drug and let him/her know what's going on. Its the only way to be sure.

Good luck!

Penicillin allergy can present as a rash. The absolute worst kind can progress to destroying all your skin, but that is very rare. I would recommend stop taking the medications, and calling your pharmacist/doctor in the morning. Penicillin is the preferred medication for strep throat. Erythromycin can be used but there can be resistance to it, and so, has fallen out of favor over the years.

Your parents are wrong - antibiotics do not cause rashes unless you have an allergy to them. Many people are allergic to penicillin and its derivatives. Call the pharmacy and describe your symptoms in detail, AND call your doctor tomorrow. Allergic reactions can be very dangerous. Better to be safe than sorry.

I would skip the dose tonite and call your Doctor and the pharmacy tomorrow, you are probably allergic to penicillin. The rash is a allergic reaction and your body is trying to tell you that. Good Luck
