could be anything. virus, over heating memory/hard drive, damaged files... or any other innumerable possibilities. take it too the geek squad, best buy or some other place that will fix computers.

If it shuts down when you are not there, it could be simply a hibernation setting. If it shuts down when you are working on it, then you may have a virus or spyware.

Get your VirusScan updated and run a full scan. Also get some antispyware and malware programs such as Adaware and Spybot.

Lastly, Look on the net for a good diagnostic program which will check the temp of the CPU Chip. If the chip is getting overheated, the system will shut down to prevent damage. You may just need to replace the Cooling Fan on the Chip.

I have fixed a computer like that. When i turn it on, it shuts down after 5 minutes of use.
The problem is caused by you windows xp. U need to intall the Operating System again.
Or ur power supply. Good Luck, Buddy

it could be one of many problems, but check and make sure your power supply and motherboard are working properly, if those are working properly, it's in the operating system, and i don't know what to tell you except for reload the os, it could just be an os malfunction or there is a virus or worm out there that makes the computer randomly shut down. oh yea and it could be a hard drive trying to give out, but just make sure everything is hooked into the motherboard correctly and check the power supply before you do anything else.

I'm not sure if its the same problem as mine had but it did the same thing and it was the power supply,you might check that out to see if its working properly.Good luck to you.

You probably have a memory leak. I'm pretty sure that is the answer to your problem.
