Ok somebody called me 4 or 5 times this morning 1:44 1:45 1:46 1:47 1:48 this morning. they were saying that they knew somebody who wanted to whoop my ***, and they impersonated a cop, i know telling me that somebody is going to woop my *** (which is immature as it is) is not a crime but harrassing me and impersonation does come with a fine or something right? should i tell the police, or should i let it go?

Making a terroristic threat IS a crime. They can't hide behind the "I know someone who..." phrase. They are transmitting the threat to you, therefore, they are the threat.
Did they call your cell phone? If so, you should have the number of the person making the threat. You turn that in to the police, and the cops will find the person and stop the harassment.
Or you could simply have your cell number changed.

Harrassing and threatening you is actually a crime. The tough bit is proving someone did it. If they also stated that they were a police officer that is a crime (a felony) and can carry a jail sentence.
If you know who it is, you should call the police and tell them what is going on. The police can get phone records for where the calls are coming from and put an end to it.

Catching the person is the key. You could get a tracer on the calls. Call up the phone company and yes, call the police. I would get caller ID. At least it would go on record if something were to come of all of this. Do you have any enemies? Steal someone's boyfriend? Record the message if it happens again. Another tactic is to get a whistle and next time they call blow it really loud. lol

You could tell police, but they suck, didn't you hear what happend to the 13 year old girl who killed her self because some "adults" impersonated a boy though myspace? Well, the socall adults got a way with it and not even a slap on the wrist!
In other words, help your self, call the police but I doubt they'll be of any use!
Good luck!

They couldn't go to jail. But that is harrassment and they could get fined. I had a similar thing happen to me and the cops were involved. They said i could file a report or even put a restraining order on them. But i was threathened so its a little different. If they personally threaten you then you could do something about it

Yes. Check your call log online, or contact the phonw company and have them trace the call back to whomever placed it. As far as letting the cops know, I wouldn't take it that far unless it becomes serious and your life is being threatened. If so, then YES. Contact your nearest police station immediately because situations like that tend to get sticky easily. Good luck.

I think you might be able to get something done with harrassment, but as far as having proof about what they said, I don't know how much you need. It never hurts just to call the police and ask about the situation. If you are afraid, I'd definately try and get help.

the cell phone company won't be able to trace anything. you'll need to get file a police order for it and they will take care of the rest of it. but it has to happen repededly. as for impersonating a police man/woman, yes they can go to jail for that. call the police and file a report. see what they have to say about the situation and leave it in their hands. you can not call the phone company yourself because you need a 'search warrant' for it. if you call them they will be able to take care of it.

wait a little bit. If they call again, tell the police. Have them track your phone callls for a few days, and figure out who it is. But, it could also be considered harrasement, and could lead to something terrible. It's up to you, if you feel you are in danger, contact help
