Yes, Winter Solstice is the real reason for the season.

I'm a naturalistic pantheist which means that "I believe in God/dess but spell it N-A-T-U-R-E." In other words, I am nontheistic. Knowing of the interdependence of nature (food cycle, etc.) as well as the interdependence of actions (ancestors' past actions affect my current circumstances and my actions will affect the circumstances of my descendents) fills me with a sense of gratefulness which I demonstrate both through my actions as well as concrete actions of respect and honor.

December 21 and all being the real day...Jesus was allegedly born in the harvest time arond September.

What is conerning to many is the fact that the calendars were altered by 11 days, and have been played with for many years, so the real date and time etc are man-made...in other words if you could argue the point well enough, you could claim it was 2045...ridiiculous.

Of greater concern to me personally is the fact that many freemasons and illuminati members have and are continuing to exploit the alleged Mayan predictions of 2007/2012 as per the sundial on the White House lawn.

The Mayans etc did build temples of worship, but they were conveniently killed off when the whiteman found them...a book written by Geoffrey De Monmouth on the Mayan culture mentions doomsday predictions and so on around this time...the author is coincidentally from the lineage of one of Britain's most welathiest and historic families...and related to none other than George Bush...

It is being exploited claiming end times and so on based around the sun and planetary movements because the New World Order will and should be complete by 2015...we are in for some interesting times.

I will be getting plastered and giving and receiving presents, but won't be running round my garden starkers chanting at the sun...

I will be celebrating the rebirth of the Sun on Dec. 25th after the Constellation Virgo the Virgin gives birth to the Sun that morning.

I would celebrate the solstice as the days start getting longer but I live in the Southern hemisphere so the opposite would be occuring. I agree we should get back to the real meaning of christmas though, prefer to worship a sun that does give us life rather than a mythological son who takes it.

I will, just as I have before. Nothing different. It's just such a shame that so many people don't even realize where most of their celebrations this time of year (as other times of the year) originate...

yep its the little death-and another year starts as the sun starts to stay out just a little longer each day-of course only the other side of the planet it will begin its slow decline as they celebrate their longest day---smile and enjoy the night

I would celebrate it, except that someone appropriated the Yule for their own uses and that just spoiled it for me.

*raises hand*

I and my Wiccan group will be having a Yule ritual with a wonderful feast afterwards.

A blessed Winter Solstice to you and yours.

Ahhh, the Sun and it's rebirth... I will be doing that along with the birth of Jesus Christ even if Dec. 25th isn't his actual birthday... Dec. 25th isn't the Sun's either. that would be Dec. 21st.
