That's pretty much what "I'll pray for you" means.

I think they do something : praying
You don't think you'll make a difference. You hope. That's the last resort you could do after everything has been done and tried. Hope for the best.
By the way, it's time for those who don't pray to let others do, just like those who do have let others not to do it. It's harmless. Wait it a minute, I thik this is one of those questions that try to be funny. Ok..hahahaha

Prayer does not mean that you sit back and do nothing- actually prayer can place you in a position to know exactly what God wants you to do- Prayer does not get God ready to do your will, it gets you and I ready to do His. Read the book of Nehemiah in the Bible sometime and you will see a man who prayed and acted- THEY GO TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes God asks you to be still and know that He is God, and sometimes He asks you to be apart of the answer to someone's prayer. Prayer is not inactive- believe you me!!!!!!

Prayer for those who believe will make a difference to them
and anyone that is in a situation of need you will find the first thing you do is say "oh god".Prayer is to remember god and to give thanks for everything and help those in need.Remember god and he will remember you!

praying is a way of communicating with God! we pray because we lift all our desires and worries to God who has the great power alone to do impossible things possible! so be happy when somebody prays for you, it means they care a lot for you and though they can't do something for you they are sure that God will do miracles for you.

its a device for people to channel thier positive energy and focus it on whatever cause they see fit. some would call it meditation, some would call it prayer......either way, you aren't doing nothing, you are giving yourself a recharge of spiritual strength, its all psycological, but who cares how you center yourself? as long as it gives you peace....

LOL, I hope not! because if that's the case, we would have so many idle people around.

Nah. True believers actually believe it is doing good.
We may disagree, but there's no need to be b*tchy about it.
