Love is enlightenment, there is no other enlightenment. The love of a God/Man for the Goddess/ Woman and vice-versa brings God/ Goddess into existence or realization. Just to know God/Goddess out of existence is only the beginning of the true spiritual path. Great question Sunman. : )

I think that true love is what we might begin to see through enlightenment but although we may become enlightened true love is not actually possible since we are limited as human beings.
Enlightenment will show you the way but love requires you to act. I can say that I love you and that has the effect of making you feel loved, but you cannot truly love someone unless you devote your life to that person completely and no-one is that unselfish and, besides, no-one worthy of that love would expect or require that. On a more universal scale we do not have the ability to love everything in a real and meaningful way.
It is possible to love trully those people that you do come into contact with and through those actions we learn new kinds of lessons which are beyond enlightenment, through the true realization of the self. True love is something which grows and enlightenment is the understanding of the first step.

I had to think about the "true" part. Is there anything but true love? I mean, if it isn't true, it can't really be love, can it? Since all of life is simply love manifested in form, recognizing that love is all, is enlightenment. So love is not a "form" of enlightenment; it is enlightenment.

hm - interesting question. I am going to think about this one.
Peace!
Later (Tues. 12/12)...
True love a form of enlightenment? I don't think so. I think true love comes from a lot of luck and intention - and the beautiful feeling of true love (or any love) can raise your vibration and give you a feeling of lightness, but it doesn't give you clues into the Universe.
Having said that, some people (like myself) think that the goal of enlightenment is to lighten the heart (it's an un-heavyness rather than an un-darkening, as it were). With that definition, love of any kind is enlightening - as the beautiful feeling of love, no matter where it comes from (true love, friendship, family, new love, etc.), very often lightens the heart.
Great question - thanks.
Peace!

If you believe yourself enlightened but do not see your brothers is also, you are not quite there yet. To finally grasp the fact that you are enlightened & are enlightenment, you must be able to see it in your brother. To be enlightened & not love all on a very real level is just not possible.
I do not equate true love with love between a man & woman, although this kind of love can be true love. True love is both universal & individual (got to love those spiritual paradoxes) and something much, much more.
If I know & accept my true self, I must know & accept for all, their inability to manifest that true nature here is of no concern & changes their truth in no way. Seeing this is Love & Enlightenment.
Blessings.

The extent of enlightenment depends upon how much our love encompasses. If one knows love for all the universe then enlightenment is very great indeed.

True love can certainly enlighten -but perhaps a certain amount of insight, or enlightenment, is essential to true love, too.

Hi Sunny Man!
I do feel pure, undivided Love to be the ultimate state of freedom, a state of equality with the power beyond the world of symbols, as one lives without fear, malice, hatred, envy, jealousy, littleness, greed, restlessness, impatience, resentments. We can attain more knowledge but we must BE Love, so YES Sunman, this is enlightenment........
and what a form it tis! ! !
Love has no degrees, it's all or nothing....

methinks love is a form of enlightenment
seeing the beauty in another person, care for others, and a deep connection with the loved one....
everything about love is in some way enlightening :)
edit: rena has a fantastic answer :)
the best part (maybe even the essence) of love is losing oneself in another person... or thing, whatever floats your boat ;)
