There are cheerleaders for the army, and yes, they are cadets.
Cadets are soldiers and full fledged members of the United States Army, and paid at the E-5 level throughout their time at the academy. They would be simliar in rank to an indivudal in OCS school. They can have their committement time to the academy cut short in order to be called to serve in times of extreme need for soldiers - i.e. WWII. While they are students, they are still required to perform many of the same duties as active duty members. At retirement, the four years at West Point are counted towards years of service, and it is reflected in the retirement check.
Army cadets are not sent to bootcamp/BASIC training post graduation. They have completed this training, referred to as Buckner, and attend the BOLC II and branch specific BOLC III courses prior to reporting to their units. They are required to attend various field training exercises throughout the year, and various schools throughout the summer such as airborne, air assult etc. They are also sent to a Cadet Leadership Training Course during the summer between 3 and 4 year where they shadow a lieutenant.

RE:
Are the Army cheerleaders in the Army?
Watching the Army/Navy game the other weekend, I was wondering if the cheerleaders were soldiers too?
Anyone know?

Cadets at the US Military Academy [West Point], the US Air Force Academy [Colorado Springs], and the US Coast Guard Academy [New London] plus Midshipmen at the US Naval Academy [Annapolis] and the US Merchant Marine Academy [Kings Point] are members of the respective armed force or federal service that owns their academy. They are paid about half of the salary for the lowest officer rank. While they rank just below a warrant officer and above all the enlisted grades in their respective services, sergeants and petty officers are allowed to train them and give them limited orders. They do not pay tuition, room, board, books, or lab fees. When they graduate, they do not get their cadet or midshipman time added into the 20-year retirement package, but some have prior enlisted service, which does count for retirement and pay longevity. They are obligated to serve 5 years as a fair and reasonable payback for their educaation. Contrary to what many think, the 5 academies are all among the top 20 or so colleges in America in academic standing and are the most difficult of all schools to enter. West Point has been the top college in the nation, academically, off and on now for several years. Again, contrary to popular opinion created by sensationalist news media, the campus environment at all 5 academies is religious for many cadets and midshipmen, and the rampant sexual activity found in the dorms of most civilian colleges is absent. I am a graduate of West Point, have visited extensively at the other 4 academies, and have taught at 5 civilian universities after obtaining the PhD and retiring at the rank of Army lieutenant colonel. I have also read pertinent US Code governing the Academies, and the regulation books that they publish, plus the US News & World Report College Annaual Rankings.

They are West Point (U.S. Miltary Academy) Cadets, just like the Football players are.
Cadets aren't actually in the Army yet, but they are obligated to it and enter the Army when they graduate from West Point.

All the people that play for the Army/Navy and are in the band/ cheerleading/ colorguard/ chess club/ and whatever club.. They are all cadets in the military. They are not soldiers yet. They are Cadets... They have no field experience and they will one day become officers. They have free college tuition and have to pay it back by serving 4 to 5 years in the service after they get out. After that they have to head to bootcamp and set them straight. They will be evenutally sent out to the WAR...
usually they only serve one term.. some of them just get out after they have served their time for their free college.
