What under garments should i have? i am taking some shoes like the kind i want to wear with the dress. I don't have any kind of idea what i'm looking for in a dress so i don't know what to wear under it. I'm going to mexico so i really can't go home and come back another day to try it on. any recommendations?

Just take yourself, and maybe your mother, or best friend, or honor attendant. you choose the gown first, and all the accessories come later.

I wore a strapless bra so that I could try on strapless and thin strapped styles, typeof underpants doesn't really matter too much unless you're wearing a tight fitting slinky dress..
I also went with my hair down (blow dried nicely) but took a hair clip so I could clasp my hair up and see how it looked both ways with the veil..
Something I didn't realise that the bridal shops here prefer was that they like you to make an appointment so they can dedicate their time just to you instead of back and forth with walk-ins. I don't know about Mexico though! Also I would've liked to have taken a camera, but I WASN'T allowed to photograph the dress.
Oh.. and tissues.. My Mum deffinately needed tissues..! lol

Take shoes that are comparable to the ones you would wear for the wedding - that's a good idea. Also, depending on the style of dress you want, take a strapless bra if you have one. If you don't have one, don't worry too much. Most bridal shops have strapless bras, petticoats, slips, etc that you can try on with the dress.

Okay I maybe shouldn't contribute my two cents on this but if I was a gal I think I would take anyone but my fiance. I don't really see how he could be objective about such an important question. As far as undergarments are concerned I am going to stay at least a thousand meters away from even trying to answer that.

take a strapless bra and a one peice garment and a regular bra, take a panty girdle and a garter belt and panties. Mix and match to suit the dress you pick also bring 3 pr shoes pick the one that goes with the dress and buy one like it to go with the dress

Bring the style of shoe you hope to wear- it doesn't have to be exact, but get the height close.
Most salons will not allow you to photograph the dresses, so leave the camera at home.

generally the shop has the garments that are supposed to be worn with it. i am getting mine from david's bridal and when i went they gave me a corset bra in my size and the under skirt that is worn with most of the dresses. but just in case, wear a stapless bra and white panties (something that will not give you a panty line if you are going to get a slim gown). and yes, a camera!

I have a planner from Brides magazine, love it! They say to take:
Photos of dresses you love, Panties you feel comfty in revealing to others, control top pantyhose, elastics and clips for putting hair, a small camera(if they let you use it), pen and notebook and one or two honest friends. I am taking 3 to my dress hunting starting in January but that I think can vary.

all bridal stores have inserts in cup sizes for the upper area..for the bottom half wear white..even tho most dresses will have a slip with it or the store will have one for you

Take whatever undergarments you plan on wearing the day of, a strapless bra white or nude colored, and white or nude panties.
