With the daily "brawls" occurring on R+S, I had myself wondering what the very first day of YA in the R+S section was like.

Has anybody been here long enough to say what the first day was like? If you haven't been here that long, what do you think the first day was like? Do you think that there were more legitimate questions, or do you think that there were more questions that mocked other people's beliefs?

"Jesus M": Yes, I do know the meaning, but it is a combination of my qualities and beliefs that makes me have "The Anomaly" as my Username.

"St. Nearly": I do not know the specific date, but I doubt that it started more than three years ago. Given that, I thought that it might be possible to have someone that was here for that long.

Well, it's a combination of many people's beliefs (Atheists, Buddhists, Christians, etc.). The bashing that occurs on here doesn't seem normal to me. I figured that if they had that on the first day, YA wouldn't have been as successful. But I could be wrong.

I've been here about a year and a half, and I know of only one person who was here from the start. If I'm correct, Yahoo! Answers came into existence in December of 2005. This person joined R+S in January of 2006.

From what he has told me, there were originally about 30 regular members, from all walks of life, but mainly atheists. Everyone got along, exchanged ideas, held friendly debates, and respected each other's opinions.

When I showed up a few months later this was still generally the case, except with more members. There was a real camaraderie among the people here, with the questions and answers being far less insulting. It felt like an extension of one's family.

That all changed when Yahoo! shut down the newsroom forums. The trolls showed up in droves, and the IQ level seems to have dropped considerably. Instead of looking for sincere answers to real questions, people suddenly became obsessed with why atheists are here, could I possibly be pregnant, and is it a sin to masturbate. The childish flaming and reporting chased a lot of good people away.

It's unfortunate, really.

Yeah well what date was the first day on here?

As of now, there are all kinds of questions on here -- are you upset cause someone mocked your belief, or what exactly are you trying to say?

I wasn't here on day one, but shortly thereafter. It was far more serious, and civil.
The homosexuals and the atheist took control soon. Many good people had their accounts closed because of false reports by the goonies.

Some think God created it.

Some people think it was the aftermath of a massive explosion.

Some people think it has always been, and always will be.

But...no one remembers.
People can only theorize.

You can check out the top contributors and see how far back they go and maybe get an idea of how it was.
