It is not a Soldiers (or Marines) job to pick what wars to fight. Our Lot is to serve regardless of personal opinion.
(Having an apolitical military is key to preventing a military dictatorship)
If you want to serve but don't want to deploy you can join the State Guard (not the National Guard) or State Defense Force.
Not every state has one but they are the true minutemen, they give up their time to train until they are called by the state.

Thing is, you gotta look at what you value most. Once you are in, you are in, and weather you like it or not, when a war pops up, or some war lord somewhere decides to kill of a neighboring tribe you will be there. In the military you don't surrender your ability to have an opnion, just your ability to voice it. Because in the end it doesn't matter, you are still going. There is no shame in not joining, the life style is not for everyone. I personally find it rewarding and I also agree with the war. That's just me, having been there. And you might have changed your mind if you went there. Short of it is, if you can't live with the possability that you might have to preform acts for people you don't like in a situation you don't support, you are likley better off out of the military.

Don't join. If you don't support the war don't put yourself in a position where you may have to fight it. The military needs people who are mission-oriented and mission-dedicated. That means you take an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and to follow the lawful orders of the President and the officers and non-commissioned officers appointed over you. Anyone who doesn't fit that profile can be a drag on unit morale. Stay home.

Hi : I served more tha 4 years in the Army,s 82nd Airborn Division, and I also support our troops 110% And I understand how you fill but about serving your country.
But keep in mind that we havnt won a war since ww11, we losl in Corea, Nam, and in Irak we havent been told the truth.
During ww11 we had verry strong comanders McArthur,Ike, Omar Bradley Patton etc, After that politicians with out even Boy,s
Scout Training are telling our military what to do, thats the problem. If you want to serve our country ,volunteer at any of the VA hospitals and helping our guys.

Wait, finish your degree and then join the Military if that is still something that you want to do. If you don't believe in what is going on right now then it is definitely not the time to join. As you could be called up at any moment to go on a deployment.

No one supports any war. War sucks! But marines follow orders, and if their orders take them to Iraq, then Iraq is where they go.
If you cannot accept this, then please, stay out of the Military. You will not do them or yourself any good.

Only the army will start a college grad at E-4. Marines will start you as E-2.
Go the officer route and start as an O-1.
