My hope is that people will harbor just enough doubts about their beliefs in God to reject your idea. Do not go gentle into that dark night.

Excellent question, should be a bunch of silly answers.
The real answer, is we were not meant to die. We are humans, physical human beings and are meant to live on earth. So nobody with a measure of health wants to die.
Think about the Garden of Eden, that was to be expanded to cover the whole earth with healthy, happy, peaceful people populating the planet and "subduing" it, making the rest of the earth as the population expanded to be like the small Garden that was originally there.
God also gave the warning, if they ate from the tree they would "positively die". So, what was the other conclusion:
A) Or you will die anyways even if you don't eat
or
B) Otherwise you will keep on living if you obey my words
So the first humans could still be alive today, but they disobeyed god, and thus died as he said. Had they been obedient they would still be alive today, and we would not have been in this dying situation.
Man is still meant for the earth and will eventually re-obtain the perfection Adam lost for us, but the reason nobody wants to die, is we were never meant to die in the first place, and earth is our home.

Because Christians are called to be salt and light in the world, and they are also charged with the responsibility of leading other souls to Christ.
There's a lot of work to be done, and the seriously ill and the dead are pretty much out of the game.
You hang in there until God calls you home, and you don't quit until then.
Here on earth, it's all about charity and self giving. Heaven will wait.

God put you here for a reason...whether to discover the cure for cancer, or to serve as a good-or bad-example, or whatever. Killing yourself, or just allowing yourself to die, would be an act of rebellion against God...and we all know how He deals with those. Life is a training ground-a school-for death, and the life after death. Would you try to jump from Kindergarden to college in a week? You have lessons to learn. Stay as long as you can, and learn as many lessons as possible.

God gives you all the available technology and help for you to prolong your life. If you give them up, there is no difference between refusing help where it is available and suicide.
By prolonging your life, you may continue to be witness as God's children to the others. God is Love who gives Hope but not Death. In Hope, there is Life. So, your life is given by God as a gift. No matter what, you have to treasure this gift instead of surrendering it to death.

LOL... the issue with LIFE is that once Christ moves IN thru our belief in His sacrifice being sufficient to reconcile us to God, then our life becomes HIS LIFE. It is up to HIM what He does with it. He wants us to take care of ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually by doing the right things so that we might better serve Him while we are alive on this earth.
God has a purpose in our being ALIVE. It is to be His ambassadors to those who live in a dying world. Your view, while rather depressing and fatalistic, is nothing more than just that...your view. We are told to adjust our thinking to align with GODS view of things. Makes a big difference when you see things from HIS perspective....all the difference in the world.
Have YOU accepted Gods gift of righteousness thru faith in Christs finished work on the Cross? If not, why not?

Change your point of view. We are all making this up as we go along.
Add: Begin to see the perfection here, before you and leave and return, and your next life will be thousands of times better, more joyful. If children in Africa can smile, so can you.

I would reverse the question. If you think there is no real purpose to life and that we are basically a bunch of evolved animals with no lasting future, why would you want to continue to live? It is my faith that gives me purpose and a reason to live.

Jesus told us to overcome death, not submit to it. It takes a life time to prepare. You will not see Truth if you jump from the bridge.
