That slogan has been out of use in army propaganda for a good couple years now. Lately it has been changed from "An Army of One" to "Army Strong." I believe be all you can be is not geared towards the selfish, but to those you want to do something more with there life than just be another man or woman. "Be all that you can be" generates a feeling of being able to push myself to all extremes and do it for a cause i can believe in, my country and the freedoms we have such as being able to question why we have the slogans we do. No propaganda, just recruitment.

It's Army Strong now.
I think that "Be all that you can be" is the best slogan for the Army EVER!
There is nothing "selfish" about being your best.
If joining the military was "inherently self-sacrificial" why would we get paid or give bonuses to be competitive?
Is there sacrifice in the Army, yes.
But i work for compensation in my chosen field.
Does that make me "Selfish"?
I don't think so.

The Army changed it in 2000 to "An Army of One" which flopped horribly.
The Army now uses "Army Strong."
"Be all you can be" was the the Army's ever used. It spoke the truth, because the Army really does cause Soldiers to realize their own ability to achieve their goals and learn how to make a plan and execute that plan.
So, why do you have such an acidic and malevolent attitude toward the Army?

Have you been living under a rock? It's 'Army Strong' now.
Another question: Are you prior service? Somehow, I doubt it. 'Be all that you can be' was actually not that bad; it was just a little stale. As a soldier, I realize that I am twice the man I would have become had I not enlisted. A civilian can never understand that, so I don't expect anything more from you.

I liked the old Uncle Sam I Want You for the US Army, myself. Simple and to the point. Though be all you can be is much better than the Army of One and Army Strong slogan.

This Site Might Help You.
RE:
What do you think of the US army's slogan: "be all that you can be"?
I can't help but get annoyed everytime I see a commercial that uses that propoganda "be all that you can be" to appeal to young folks. The line tries to appeal to someone's selfishness.
Do you think that slogan (be all that you can be) is an appropiate slogan for the army? or...

Yeah, they don't use that slogan any more, so I'm not sure why you are so upset. Isn't it, "Army Strong" now?

I'm not sure where you have been seeing these commercials...old videos, maybe..
Personally, I liked be all you can be ten times better than Army of One - now that's selfishness, right there.
