Business class generally goes to frequent flyer's; like if you have a company that does business nationwide and travels alot, it actually provides stuff for business people. In some airplanes if there is no first class there is a business class; just like first class anyone can travel in business class as long as they are willing to fit the bill.

Business class provides a much higher level of comfort than economy class although at a far higher price. It can vary between airlines, but in general you get much wider seats and twice the legroom or more. Seats may recline completely flat, especially on non-U.S. airlines. The food is better and is served on real china instead of plastic. There is a greater selection of wine and other alcoholic drinks and it is all free. You get priority boarding and, on some airlines, a larger free baggage allowance. Most airlines also offload first and business class luggage before economy class, so you get your luggage sooner at your destination.

It's much nicer than economy class if you can afford it (or you are a business traveler and can get your employer to foot the bill or you can get an upgrade with your frequent flyer miles).

This web site www.seatguru.com gives you the amenities and seat dimensions of many airlines aircraft.

Also, most airlines web sites have descriptions of their business class service, features, etc etc.

Just as an opinion, I fly from Dallas to Tokyo several times a year, and the American Airlines 777 aircraft business class is good enough for me. I can sleep comfortably, watch several movies, and enjoy great food during meal service.
