Most wars thruout history were started by religion. Today inside Iraq, Israel, Sudan etc. there is heart ache and suffering. If there is a heavon then if you're good you should get it. If you kill people in the name of God Allah etc. then burn in hades forever if there is a hear after. If not then why hurt others unless your a sadistic one.

You're right. But as I got older, I realized the value of religion in the small town where I live. It's the material that helps to bond a small society together. In most countries it is anyway. In the countries you cited, it's a tool used to commit violence. I think that as humans, the majority are somehow hard wired in the brain to accept religions. The reason I say that is because all societies, regardless of time and location, have all had a religion. So it must come from with in our selves.

Actually, it is debatable whether "most" wars in history were based on religious ideas but I would probably not argue with the word "many".

So, let me ask you this counter question:

"Do you think the world would be better off without love?"

Because, after all, do you know how many "crimes of passion" are committed every year? Now, multiply that by the number of years in a millennium and you'd get a sizable chunk of people were were murdered due to this emotion.

Now, you'd argue, that of course, we would not be better off without love and such crimes of passion are really just a perversion of love. Well, same thing with crimes committed in the name of religion.

Define religion. Is war part of it? Don't assume so much... History and statistics tell us how much religions have made the earth more liveable for mankind. Human greed, love for money, power, ego-trip are among the causes of war, not religion. Of couse there are religious men who joined the wars.

The war at the end of the world (Tribulation) will be the greatest one, and I wouldn't want to be without God when that one comes. Even if we didn't have religion to fight over, there would be wars over something else. It is a power struggle. Religion is just an excuse. People will fight over anything.

If the world is so wicked with religion what would it be without it?

The real problem is religious intolerance which causes quarrels, and by saying the world would be better without religion you admit you are intolerant of it. You are saying the exact same as someone who says, "wouldn't the world be better without blacks?" or anything like that. It is racism, bigotry, and arrogance.

No, I don't think so. The problem isn't religion itself; the problem is people and what they do. People use religion as an excuse to do stupid things.

And, others have tried your theory in the past... the soviet union, china, etc. And it just created more problems than it solved.

Not really.

The biggest problem in the world now is that people misunderstand their religion and act on it, not that they're religious in the first place.

I wouldnt be too hasty on this one. Look at communist countries that do not have a hint of religion in them. Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao..heck look at China and how they treat their people. The problem is THE PEOPLE not the belief or lack thereof.

It is not historically true that most wars have been started over religion.

Lust for power is the prime reason most wars are started.

And how are you going to accomplish this? prohibit people from seeking truth? Outlaw their beliefs? It's not religion that causes war, it's oppression.
